The universe is such a vast place, filled with so many unknowns that seem utterly beyond the mind's comprehension. One might even despair at their own incapacity to understand all things, and call it a cold, merciless space of infinite suffering. Cold, the universe certainly may be, yet it lacks not in warmth. Yuurei, an icy spirit, could tell you as much; not only is her mate the very embodiment of everything from which all worlds are made, but she herself is the knower of all things. The future lies beyond her reach, but all present knowledge certainly belongs to her. The problem would seem to be persuading her into spilling such secrets; the quiet kitsune, who shifts between fox and dragon form with nary a sound, seems content to say little to those around her.

But really, isn't that to be expected? Would you have much to say, yourself, with that kind of deep knowledge running through your mind? If you never had to seek out the answers to your questions, would you see a point? Yuurei, not being able to gain much information from others and rejecting the expectation of simply offering up all relevant knowledge at every turn, instead takes comfort in surrounding herself with Cosmos. Her beloved mate, knowing himself, has no need to question her.

Yet there must be more to the story than this. Yuurei's name can be heard on only a few tongues in the realm, but those that speak of her heap praise in regaling stories about their encounter with her. They speak fondly of how searched hard to discover her presence; how, when they beheld her starry form, their hearts brimmed with anxiety; how, upon asking their questions, she answered without hesitance. So what is the missing piece in this picture?

The truth is, the very reclusiveness that distances her from others also allows her to spring into joy, when someone seeks her out hoping to be granted an answer they desperately desire. Oh, when such a dragon comes to stand before her, what marvelous lengths she'll go to for them! Every detail, every insight, every flourish within her grasp will swirl into place as if to form the notes of a grand melody that lives in her soul. She will practically sing when a question is asked in such a reverent spirit. Far from being the sly, tricky creature of entrapment that kitsune are often portrayed as, Yuurei's only trick is that her favorite questions to answer are the ones that show as much love for knowledge of the universe as she holds in her own heart.
