He discovered it when he was a child. The ability to get away with almost anything and everything because he was young. Because he was cute and unsuspecting. Because he had an innocent and playful look about him that made others put their guard down and assume the horrible things he did were simply a child's game. It was the perfect get out of jail free card. And Seir planned to use it at every chance he got. There was, of course, one downside to his marvelous plan to lead a life of crime while remaining seemingly innocent. The years had a way of catching up to you. Once he started to grow older and entered his teenage years, the things he could get away with began to shrink until all the possible fun things in life vanished. When he was a young adult, it got even worse. He was held accountable. Oh, no, that just wouldn't do. Seir knew just the thing he needed. A powerful spell that would exercise quite a bit of his magic to turn himself back into a child. The spell of eternal youth. It was a misleading conception. Eternal in this case only meant until he naturally passed away either from age, disease, or murder. But he would remain a child. And even then, becoming an adult again was also plausible if he had the right spell. Yet, why would he want to do so unless it was absolutely necessary? With no qualms, Seir became a child again. The bounty hunters were skeptical at first, joining forces with a child that loved cute things and relished in being called cute. A child that never showed his snarky, arrogant side to outsiders and instead played an innocent game. Adults didn't take him seriously. Thieves that crossed him didn't either. Those that decided Seir wasn't a threat found their lives, and their necks, cut short. Seir was a ruthless leader in the beginning and he didn't change his ways with time. Instead, his group only became stronger. Bounty hunters worth their salt saw the skills and perfect alibi to their crimes. A child would never murder or steal. A child was too young to understand such concepts. Seir's following helped him in his clever lie. Now he sits on top of his throne of lies and stuffed animals, watching as gold and valuables are brought to him. A small cut is always given to the bounty hunters, of course, but they are also paid in protection. Protection by a child who could claim the hunters are simply his protectors. Guardians. Brothers, sisters, parents, aunts and uncles. Seir has offered them a gateway into horrible crimes with no punishment. A bounty hunter would be stupid to let his kind offer slip away. So what if they have to deal with his nasty attitude? Its better than a death sentence at the hands of the law. by Dew |
