Iris is a Pearlcatcher, born in the Tangled Wood. Unlike other dragons born in Shadow nests, Iris was born with eyes an icy white. And, unlike other Pearlcatcers, Iris was unable to produce her own pearl. It was apparent from that moment that she was blind and different, so she was immediately taken to the nearest healer. After being told that there was nothing that could be done to help her, Iris was raised as a normal dragon, needing just a little extra help to get by.

As she grew, Iris learned to live her life more independently, and, during an outing into the woods, Iris stumbled upon a hard, round rock. When she picked it up, she was able to see for the first time, the world a haze of orange and grey. The rock turned out to be a pearl, one that could help her not only see what was in front of her, but both future and past events.

After using her pearl, Iris realized that her future was in the Ashfall Wastes with Clan Aves. Rather than asking for a place in Syrinx's clan, she simply let herself in and let him know that it was her destiny to be here. Today she spends her time looking to the future, helping to advise Syrinx and Bacillus the best she can to help the clan prosper.
