Biography
The Blistering Butcher
Scalding scales and heavy iron-wrought armor form a thick shell around a heart of gold. Following the savory aromas through the winding Webtunnels will likely lead you to the jovial Ridgeback, preparing hearty meals for his clanmates. Manipulating his fire's intensity with ease, he enjoys spending his days feeding the clan whilst recounting tales of days long past. He draws comfort from the friendships forged through his provisioning, remembering times when he wasn't so fortunate.
Born the largest of his clutch, Horus was acutely aware of his innate intimidation. It felt like a curse. Accidental cuts and bruises on others were a regular occurrence during playtime, and before long he found his siblings off playing without him. Friendships with others his age usually followed the same pattern, ending with Horus being left to quell his boredom alone. Gossip surrounded him. By the time he had figured that an older playmate might suit his needs, no dragon would give him the time of day. Without a word, he slipped away in the night, longing for a fresh slate.
Crossing through bamboo forests, Horus eventually made it to the Scarred Wateland. He had picked up some culinary skills along the way, having to feed himself over the months. Doing his best to replicate flavors from home, the scent of his cooking caught the attention of a small band of mercenaries roaming the barren plains. For once, dragons were talking kindly to him. He was so shocked that he didn't realize their honeyed words were just to get a small portion of his labor. Joining without hesitation, both of Horus' strengths were soon put to work.
Carrying on with his newfound team, Horus was a brute on the battlefield. He carried the bulk of the work on his shoulders, bringing in praise from the other mercenaries. Even so, he still felt more at home bringing ingredients to a simmer. Breathing in the sweet spices dulled the echoes of his siblings terrified squeals- brought back louder with every fight. It had to stop. Unfortunately, his presumed 'friends' had no intention of letting that happen.
Horus flew far to avoid conflict, but eventually was stuck in a tense standoff with his pursuers. Unwilling to fight for or against them, the mercenaries began closing in when suddenly a third party appeared. A handful of scouts and fighters from Primorzia dove to Horus' side, scratching and biting relentlessly until the aggressors had fled. Thankful for their help, he agreed to follow them back and discuss what had happened with their leadership. To his surprise, the dragons didn't rush him, and along the way they even had a pleasant conversation. By the time they reached their destination, Horus was laughing, at ease among these total strangers.
Having nothing to hide, Horus gave his story, assuring the clan that he meant no harm. Despite the sincerity of his words, leadership agreed that he would be watched for a few days. His heart sank as he worried that they were afraid of something he might do, but they assured him that it was just to make sure he was in good health before leaving.
