Codename: The Big One

While conductors are directly connected to their trains, Engine #001 is unique in that the AI is built directly into the train- giving it a measure of autonomy. Affectionately called 'The Big One', #001 is massive even 4-8-8-4 standards. It is the crown jewel in the fleet of battletrains; heavily armored and bristling with weaponry. It has the unique ability of being able to leave it's tracks safely, traverse terrain so long as it is relatively flat, and even fly.

#001 is used mostly as a train to give aid to those in need of help- possessing passenger cars and cargo cars to deliver supplies or to take on passengers. It is one of the few things that can safely take to the stormy skies of the lightening realm, using that energy to propel itself at neck breaking speeds. The technology has a high energy cost and has not been considered viable for mass production, but there are a handful of similar engines made after it that belong to the battle corps.

Part of the challenge of these trains is the AI themselves. Volatile and often stubborn, they are powerful allies that know what you are thinking long before you are aware of it- yet are utterly impossible to work with if they disagree with you. Despite this, they are important protectors and a show of strength in lightning skies- a rare yet exciting sight for onlookers below.
