Biography

Mitzuki was born on the Windswept Plateau. Against all her parents' warnings, her first flight sent her straight into the Twisting Crescendo. They'd thought her a certain loss, but instead the young Mitzuki came back down only a short time later, wind-tossed and laughing brightly, full of chatter of the things she'd seen at the top. Her parents knew then that she would be a true child of the Winds, feckless and free.

They were thus unsurprised when Mitzuki decided at a young age that staying at home with her clan was simply not enough for her, and set off to explore the wider world. Not without one last ride up the cyclone, of course, and the gales blew her into thin, clear air from which she could chart her path.

She began her journey without much planning and preparation, soaring straight over the Sea she could see from her height. It didn't look so far, or so wide. But the perspective of height proved deceptive. Midway through the day she found herself tired of flying in a way no Crescendo-ride had ever left her. Tired, and bored. There was nothing but endless sea below her, boring endless sea.

At least, there was nothing until there was a ship.

Mitzuki knew far too little of the sea and seafaring vessels to recognize the ship for what it was other than a place to land from which she might feasibly take off again. She floated down out of the sky onto the deck of the ship in a glide, giving the occupants plenty of time to see her coming. It was only well after she'd landed that she learned the ship she'd boarded was called the Queen's Parda, and it was not a typical merchant vessel, nor a passenger boat.

No, the Queen's Parda was a pirate ship, though some of the kindliest pirates Mitzuki had ever heard of, and Mitzuki had joined them on their outward journey. There would be no easy ride back to the Plateau, but if she was willing to work with the rest of the crew, she might find her way home again eventually.

That was good enough for Mitzuki, and she joined up in a heartbeat.

Over the course of her first voyage with the Parda, she learned a lot of the Sea, and all those who dwelled within and around it. They ported in the Sunbeam Ruins for a short while, just long enough for Mitzuki to discover the residents were much too stuffy for her tastes, though exploring the ruins was tempting.

It was on their journey home that Mitzuki spotted a dragonet in trouble. He was a young imperial, blue and grey and almost impossible to see in the dark save for the fireflies that lit his skin and the lights he'd been chasing through the dark. Mitzuki raised a cry and dove overboard to rescue the poor tired thing. Once he was aboard, it became obvious he'd come from the very land they'd left behind, the Sunbeam Ruins.

The poor thing hardly seemed interested in going back, and clung to Mitzuki like she was a security blanket. Mitzuki allowed it, but knew she had to find this young fellow a home before he thought too much on his experience and came to hate the water. When the Parda docked once more in the Windswept Plateau, Mitzuki bid a farewell to her pirate friends and took the young Aleya with her as she sought a home for him, for them, one that wouldn't mind her wandering ways.

In the end, it took another flight across water until they wound up in a clan of misfits, nearly every one of them from somewhere else. Aleya fit right in, becoming fast friends with a chattering Nocturne named Magdala. Mitzuki herself found several friends within the clan, enough that she was determined to call it home. As permanent a home as any, at least, and she volunteered to serve as the clan's messenger and courier whenever she was present.

The wanderlust was far from gone, however, and after seeing to it that Aleya was settled and safe, Mitzuki returned to the Sea to adventure with the crew of the Parda, guiding them through storms by flying ahead and riding the wind's current, a very visible banner for the twists and gusts of the air ahead.

It was on this second journey that Mitzuki met the ship's new navigator and Sunrise Seeker, Felix. Felix was kind, warm, and easy. He offered a simple kind of companionship and affection that Mitzuki found herself extremely fond of. When their closeness led to a son the color of a storm, Mitzuki knew where to take him.

And so it became that Mitzuki spends most of her time in the Crystalspine Reaches with her sons, Aleya and Ekaitz, but returns to the Queen's Parda several times a year to get her fill of exploration and to rekindle her affectionate relationship with Felix. Mostly the former, but the latter is a nice addition to the journey.
