Mahir's Wife

━ LOVERS ON A WASTELAND ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Woven nets, escape plans. Thievery, fishing, opportunism. Such was Ayla and Mahir's life for a very long time. They both needed a partner to survive in the Wyrmwound. Their partnership was a success and both of them thrived stealing from minor clans, playing a scene of injury followed by a nighttime runaway with whatever they could take. Returning to any safe place they found, fishing for food while they enjoyed whatever money they could get from their stolen goods.

Inseparable. The tiny fae rested on his head, the ridgeback soothed by the confort of her presence. They were always together and it was only natural their partnership turned them to mates.

Life was good, life was exciting.

Until they got caught on the act, trying to get away from a slighly bigger clan than their usual targets.

Mahir's face was scarred in battle and Ayla was caged. The two were kept apart as they had to make up for their crimes. They were outnumbered, and they were criminals. What should have been a short sentence lasted way longer than expected.

━ THE CARAVAN ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Then Hakim, Sirabad, Hama and Amra arrived. A travelling clan. They paid for their stay and remained outside the clan, but were soon trusted enough to stay within borders. Unlike the other two, these four had good intentions and minded their own business.

The little fae was tasked with healing to shorten her sentence and helped them heal their travel injuries. She told her story to Amra, and on day the caravan left, Mahir and Ayla were set free and told to never return else they would be killed.

She lept and clung to his face, scarred and deformed. He had been forced to fight in Mire zones to pay off their debt. The pearlcatcher had cleared them off their charges, bailed them out.

Took a bit of convincing for Ayla to talk Mahir into chasing after them to show their gratitude, at least. They had nothing to offer and yet they were welcomed, so long as they worked honest jobs now. No more stealing.

And they never did it again. Surviving with a clan was very different from trying to make out on your own. They found a family in that small gathering on dragons. Having a clan gave both of them purpose. Gave them meaning. They went from rogues to calling themselves Faipur members.

━ THE VOICE OF REASON ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━

Ayla dreads being trapped someplace again. She's wary, sensible and a little bit of a scaredy cat. Much of her bravado and bravery from her young years gave way to a more mature and responsible way of seeing life. She'd rather be stable and left to her own devices than rich. This often gets into conflict with the other caravan members. Still, they value her presence and opinion, which kind of made her a voice of reason. She will often give a different opinion and offer an unusual point of view in discussions. For that, she's often sought for counselling by the young dragons of the caravan.

Ayla is the more sensible of the two. She was never ambitious and only ever tried to make ends meet in a harsh land. She scrapped and fought, becoming a fierce mage despite her small size. She's a fairly good actress often relying on her natural disposition to show very little emotions like all faes to trick unsuspecting dragons into thinking she was sick.

Even now in their new life, most dragons in Porto don't trust her. She's considered dangerous and unpredictable, which has some truth to it.

Ayla never wanted to settle down in Porto. She doesn't feel confortable on large clans as it reminds her too much of the clan that kept them arrested. She would rather live roaming Sornieth. She voted agaisnt the settlement and the fact that she's stuck in Porto is still a sore point for her. She trully wishes they could leave and is always voicing that wish. But Mahir wants to stay. They are finally enjoying a regular pay and the benefits of a large market for their fishing and scavenging. Ayla enjoys the riches, but would enjoy freedom a lot more.

But she loves Mahir, and so she stays, because she knows she is happier when she is with him, and that freedom isn't fulfilling if it's without him.

I really liked her lore! I tried to keep the same themes you had/keep the things that showed in the art of her. The sage outfit really works with her like dang same color scheme.
