Luna

Luna was used to solitude. Her genes were almost unheard of in her clan and because of that dragons saw her differently. They saw her as some creature, something to point and stare at, instead of a fellow dragon. There were, of course, the occasional few that treated her with the respect she deserved. She held those dragons closely and in return they saw the real her. The real her was riddled with insecurities about her appearance which is why outwardly she was very humble and never really saw herself as special or different. Because of her insecurities and the constant attention she received, she only really went outside during night. The night sky matched her genes perfectly, keeping her hidden, especially during a full moon. It made her feel accepted and apart of something more.

Luna, on a perfect full moon night, was out in the outskirts of her clan. She was admiring the moon, wishing to be up there with it. She was truly at peace in the moment. That was when she was surprised by an extremely colorful dragon with a tin covered in an equally colorful towel. He was very shy and sheepish, but he gave her what turned out to be cupcakes to show that he wanted to be friends. This was such a heartfelt gesture to Luna that she immediately accepted the cupcakes and told him to sit with her. After a couple seconds, the both of them sat under the stars. The dragon that gave her the cupcakes was Buttercream and the more that he stared at the sky the more he fell in love with Luna. It became their favorite thing to do together. After many moons together as friends, they did something different. They went to the annual Sky Races which is where Buttercream asked her to be his mate. In her excitement in accepting, she knocked Buttercream over and they stared up at the sky, now in the day time. Day time wasn’t so frightening for Luna anymore with Buttercream with her.

Nightshade, a very proud dragon from a proud lineage, wandered around the clan that Luna was in. Right as she was turning the corner, she bumped into a fellow Guardian. Luna started apologizing to Nightshade, but Nightshade wasn’t paying attention. Luna half expected her to yell at her in a negative way, but Nightshade instead gushed about her genes. It was one of the first times in Luna’s life that she ever had someone compliment her on her appearance. She really didn’t know how to react at first but slowly she smiled and thanked Nightshade for her kind words. From that point on, they started hanging out with each other or stopping to say hello whenever they saw each other.
