Low slunk silently along the cold concrete of the prison, eyes sharp and ears pricked for any sign of his target. Beside him, his Gloomwillow floated in the air. As he turned the corner, he could see the entrance to the room - it was time. Huffing out a breath, he gently nudged his Gloomwillow out, hoping it would buy him enough time. As the wisp slowly drifted away, he drew his sword, gathering courage in the way lamplight glinted off its silvery surface.

One wingbeat, then another. Slowly, quietly, he pushed the door open, careful not to let it creak and alert his target. Before him, the dragon was falling into sleep, back facing him. Good.[/i] He angled his sword for the most efficient cut, steadying his hands. Let’s go. The blade made its mark, and his target didn’t make a sound. Too easy. Now let’s get out of here.

Just as silently as he came, Low slipped out of the room, wings a whisper in the frigid prison air. Should he go to find his Gloomwillow? He paused for a moment, before shaking his head. It could find him on its own. There was no need to waste time looking for the guards’ moving target. With that, he made his way for the exit.

He was about halfway to freedom when he heard a familiar whirr of wings, and blanched at the sight. His Gloomwillow floated innocently in the halls, followed by a crowd of patrollers out for his head. Without giving a second thought, he fled, six wings beating furiously as he snaked across the corridors, twisting and turning around corners. He could see the light that spilled out from the wall’s crack now. He was so close! Throwing a glance behind him, he gritted his teeth and slammed right into the crack, trying his best to squeeze through quickly, just like how he had come.
Low didn’t know whether it was fate or just bad luck, but he failed. Miserably. His head had just gone through when he felt someone grasp his tail. With one rough pull, he was tumbling onto the floor in a tangle of sinuous body and wings. Hopelessly, he looked at the guards surrounding him.

The door clanged shut and he sat huddled in a corner of the cell, silently mulling over different escape options. Forcing open the doors was not something he could do easily, given his terrible strength. His sword had been taken, so slicing open the bars wouldn’t work either. As he remained deep in thought, his Gloomwillow silently drifted through the gap in the bars, listless glowing gaze fixated on him. Low huffed out an annoyed breath. How had it managed to evade capture?

He scratched a rough picture of his sword on the floor, and tapped it with his claws, looking at the Gloomwillow. “Go find this for me, please.” The small being did not acknowledge his words, but bobbed out of the cell all the same. There was nothing left for him to do except wait. Slowly, he drifted into a light sleep.

When he next awoke, it was to the sight of a foreign blade and a familiar wisp. Squinting at the broad surface of the blade, he sighed. The Gloomwillow had brought him a broadsword instead. It was better than nothing, he supposed, as he hefted the heavy metal and took a few experimental swings. “This’ll do. Take me to where you found this.” With that, he sliced a clean line in the bars and squeezed out after the Gloomwillow.

It was a slow journey to where his sword was kept, as the Gloomwillow drifted down a maze of corridors. Surprisingly, even after his break-in, the guards didn’t seem to be on high alert. There were precious few guards actually standing around and doing their duty, and Low easily slipped past those on duty. He could only curse his terrible luck for his capture.
Finally, after an agonizing number of corridors, the Gloomwillow phased through a door. Quietly, Low eased the door open and snatched up his sword with relief. He was about to put the broadsword down when he paused and looked it over once more. It was quite a good-quality sword, a sheet of strong alloy fixed to a simple gleaming handle. Shrugging, he sheathed his own sword, and carrying the broadsword, made his escape.

Gloomwillow Guide
Low's ability to slink around undetected before an assassination can almost be considered magical in nature... which isn't too far off from the truth. Due to his Spiral nature, Low has the uncanny ability to absorb some Shadowlike magic from his Gloomwillow friend, and use it to slink into the darkness.

He does jump between two personalities; while he works he is serious, cruel, silent, and methodical due to his training. As a civilian he is mellow, helpful, passive, and clumsy. Due to his poor health he doesn't actually like being around people and is prone to falling asleep in very odd places.

Some possible prompts I can think of right off the back as

Funny-serious
Low has two swords, while on a job he ended up getting caught thanks to his gloomwillow. (He was meant to be the distraction but for some reason lead the guards to Low instead, a recurring theme.) As a result Low is detained in a cell, when the guide finds him Low tells it to bring him his sword. The broadsword was brought instead, so he just kept it after getting his sword back. He does his job before leaving.

Funny
Low just being his dorky self.
Like he falls asleep in a cafe and scares the crap out of a staff member when he spoke. He has a soft voice and very pale complexion so if not careful he can seem near death.
Or
He's walking somewhere and trips over air crashing into a random passerby and causing a scene while he tries to defuse it, poorly, to avoid suspicion.

Serious
Him going through with a job or reflecting on a past mission. You could also write about how his master placed a mark on Low to have him killed when he was younger.

He has lots of possibilities.~
