Ibi would be a rather intimidating dragon were it not for his oddly soft disposition. He shows his age more than the other old dragons in the city, mainly due to his many faded scars and the limp in his right hind leg. Because of this he tends to move slowly. The Guardian is not to be underestimated, however. When push comes to shove Ibi doesn't shy away from showing the strength that once protected the original clan. In their primes he and Vix defended their territories with great vigor and power, and while those days are long gone, that power mostly remains.

Most of Ibi's time is split between tending to the history records and spending time with his daughters. He learned early on that Tien is strangely independent for such a young dragon, allowing him to not worry so much about her needs throughout the day. Moments spent with Vix outside of their busy days are something he holds dear. Ibi doesn't envy her position as mayor. His own time as a leader is something he's happy to leave in the past. He's perfectly content to keep the records. Their history is important, what they've been through must be remembered.

Family is the most important thing to Ibi. Vix has been his first and only love, and he has tried his hardest to be a good father to each child they've raised. While most are gone, he spends quite a bit of time with Sovari in the garden she's built up behind the manor. He writes often to Sviurr as well. There is some comfort in knowing that his son is only a few days travel away.

Despite Tien being so small, she still demands her space and he respects her wishes. In the evenings she will almost always come back to his side, book in paw, and Ibi will read to her in the garden until she falls asleep. There is a simple joy in needing to carry her up to bed. Not that it takes her very long to wake up and instead make herself at home with him and Vix while they slumber.

Mishka and Ibi were enemies when they first met - the Tundra a clueless intruder in his territory. Had Mishka not been Vix's charge, the outcome of the encounter would have been a brutal and messy one. Nivur had the advantage of arriving after the old clan first began and was welcomed with open arms. She was welcomed back in the same way after she disappeared without a trace for many years. Ibi is extremely fond of them both. The couple are like siblings to him.

Bruce was found when he was just a young mith, scared and injured among the smoldering remains of the old clan territory as the dragons were evacuating the area. Ibi scooped him up without a second thought and the two formed a strong bond as he nursed the mith back to health. These days Bruce will bring Ibi gifts of potpourris made from garden clippings he's collected during his work for Sovari.

Brought back by Mishka during a trinket scavenging run many, many years ago, Ibi felt a calling when he laid eyes upon the gleaming black gem. He is never seen without the pendant now. No matter where he goes or what he does, it rests firmly around his neck.

A Brief History of Verboten

In the beginning, the Verboten Clan was made up of only a handful of dragons residing in a putrid grove at the northern edge of Plague territory. More dragons came and went, but overall numbers were on the rise, and with that a need for more land to call their own. They traveled deeper into the contaminated region to find such a place. Eventually they settled at the edge of the festering Wyrmwound, among the protrusions and virulent growth of the Rotrock Rim. Life was peaceful in its own way and alliances were forged here.

After some years their numbers had grown too large, and the dragons no longer considered themselves a clan. Instead they formed the Verboten Guild. Structures were built and members were sent out to gather supplies, to find healers that could be hired, and to establish trade routes. Those who needed help were given aid. The guild flourished.

Then, an enemy made itself known. The Great Machine, an artificial intelligence housed within a network of computer systems below the earth, a being that ruled over a domain of cold metal and ravaged earth. Outsiders who found the entryways into this place under Carrion Canyon never returned. Members of the Verboten Guild headed out to look for a missing companion. Those members barely made it back with their lives, reporting of their misfortune and the horrors they had seen within those mechanical catacombs. Even worse, the AI was going to send collectors after those who had escaped.

The guild had little time to prepare. Not enough time. It was a long and bloody battle, the amount of casualties too great. Only when an ancient horrorbeast revealed itself did the fighting come to an end. Verboten had nearly been eradicated. Those who were left, terrified and weakened, knew that they needed rebuild once more, somewhere far from where so many had been lost.

They packed up and fled the area, returning to the north where the oldest of the dragons had once roamed. There they began to build. Days, weeks, months of labor. Others came to help, some to stay and carve out a life of their own, some simply to return old favors. A village began to take shape. Then a town. Then finally Verboten City was realized.

With no further sign of The Great Machine or its creations, those who live here have been able to find peace once more. The old dragons are confident in their safety so long as their hidden guardian remains vigilant. Should The Great Machine return, or a new enemy arise, it is almost certain that the horrorbeast will once again rain down havoc to stop them.
