Name:
Xiulan – Chinese for "Elegant Orchid".
Biography:
Xiulan was among the first wave of Gaolers to be introduced to modern society after the breed was rediscovered by modern dragons during the events of "Jailbreak" and "Cracks in the Ice".
She was a fierce and wild-spirited dragoness in her youth but has since calmed down, though never losing that edge of fierceness and danger. In direct contrast, her mate, Evenus, has always been very laidback and unusually easygoing for a Gaoler. Once she became of age she joined the Sentries; the order dedicated to stalking the perimeters of Gaoler prisons. They are the first line of defense against intruders, and the last line of defense against escapees.
Since she was an orphaned baby when Jailbreak and Cracks in the Ice took place she was adopted by a pair of Coatls who took her in and accepted her as their own, and she has remained with the clan since. She has had many eggs with her mate, though none of them have stayed with their clan of birth, instead setting out once they become of age to join one of the Five Orders and find their duties and define their sense of self. Despite this and the fact that she now rarely lays eggs of her own she readily spends much of her time training the clan's young dragons in the art of hunting and fighting.
Before she and Evenus had their own eggs they spent some time adopting and looking after orphans.
