Ambitious, Perceptive, Resourceful, Vain, Cynical, Ornery
Srayun was blessed with the eyes of the Lightweaver upon birth, along with another of his two siblings, Solana. And for someone who disliked being stared at, being pawed at as if a jewel or treasure instead of a dragon, and would much rather disappear into the shadows with a good book, Srayun resented that blessing. That didn't mean he wouldn't take full advantage of it. For those who were drawn by his shining eyes, he swindled with sweet words and received bountiful gifts. The respect and awe of the faithful granted him candies and sweets as a child... and much more valuable things as an adult. Some dragons shared Srayun's belief that his eyes were curse rather than a blessing though. Many came after his and his siblings lives or sought their suffering. Others longed for their blood or scales, believing their bodies could be used to enhance spells or be tokens of good luck. Even as a mere whelp, Srayun soon learned to trust no one but his siblings. Still, if parting with a scale or a vial of blood on occasion allotted him a shiny trinket or a favor, who was he to pass up the opportunity? While Srayun always smiled that lazy grin of his, acting as though what others said never got under his scales, it couldn't be farther from the truth. Petty childhood insults festered in his heart and became sharp thorny things. The jeers and threats he heard as an adult sat in the back of his mind like a heated brand. They burned, a fire he knew he could never extinguish for as long as he lived. So Srayun decided he would burn hotter. Spit fire back at fire. They thought those blessed by the Lightweaver should be proper? Should excel in healing magic, be faithful, and good, and true? He would be the opposite. He and his siblings trained to be mercenaries. They took most any job for coin, dirtying their blessed hands with blood and sin. Yes, he studied magic, but nothing about healing. Poisons and curses, spells meant to trick and deceive. And after good study, he discovered their blood and scales had, in fact, no special properties. He still sold to any willing buyers. Although his siblings may not entirely agree with his methods, they can't deny the benefits they reap. As they travel across Sorienth, Vekana may be the one making the plans, but Srayun's always the one pulling the strings – getting them out of nasty situations and being there full of determined, unrelenting spite when things start going south. Srayun does what needs to get done, and then just a little bit more just for kicks. Even better if it's not what others want him to do. |
Name: Srayun Age: mid 20s Gender Transnonbinary man Demeanor: Snide, Aloof Allegiance: Whoever has money Role: Traveling Mercenary Familiar: Blisters Other Traits ~Is very weaselly looking, a little bit greasy and unhygienic but somehow they still look fantastic?? Always decked out in much more (not matching) jewelry than necessary. Also has several piercings, no he will not say where. ~ His four horns are skinny and ungainly. He has tattered wings and unkempt feathers. Scales are littered with various scars, most his own fault. |
Trivia ~ Absolutely feral. Has a laugh that is really more of a unrestrained cackle, although surprisingly has a rather soft and melodic singing voice. ~ Is very good with the flute! When he and his siblings aren't doing mercenary things, they'll occasionally play gigs for a quick buck (but mostly for fun). Vekana on main vocals/lute, him on flute, and Solana on secondary lute and vocals. Vekana writes the lyrics and he and Solana work on the instrumental parts. ~ Is extremely sneaky, and has a bad habit of scaring others for how softly he treads. While Solana works long-range and Vekana is a tank, Srayun is the silent assassin. The sneakiness is also good for pranks though. ~ Srayun is very sentimental and likes to collect various knickknacks (mostly jewelry, shiny things, and things given to him by others). Since they're on the move so often though, he keeps most of his hoard in a secret and secure location. ~Srayun and his familiar Blisters are a horribly chaotic duo. They have the same thirst for trickery and destruction and should be supervised at all times. This does not happen. ~ As much as Srayun claims themself to be a lone wolf, and generally acts pretty independent, they would be nothing without their siblings. Although he struggles to show it sometimes, he cares deeply for his siblings and leans on them when he needs to. They bring out the best in him. ~Favorite pastime is definitely reading! Prefers historical texts and memoirs. Especially loves reading research done into archaic magic, deities and religion, and folklore. If Srayun isn't causing chaos, he's in some dark corner with his snoot in a book ~Can be very flirtatious and is always down for a good time. Srayun's social switch is always on one end or the other, party animal-trickster, or don't talk to me or I'll claw your face off – there is no in between. (Hanging out with his siblings is the only exception) ~Has an awful and inconsistent sleep schedule that his siblings beg him to fix but will probably never happen. |
