"Hmph, did you need something? I’m quite busy working on a new spell, so if it’s not important you’re going to have to wait."

______ A powerful sorceress with an affinity for blood magic, she makes her home deep within the towering mounds of carcasses that litter the Abiding Boneyard. This aloof Skydancer spends most of her days here in solitude, meddling with curses, brewing potions and poisons, and tinkering with hexes. Possessing a firm disinterest in the political affairs of the elemental flights and their patron deities, Nightshade instead prefers to engross herself in her spellcraft, only ever leaving the comfort of her lair to hunt for food. Respected throughout many established clans in the Scarred Wasteland for being one of the main suppliers of potions and poisons for their stores, there is an unspoken agreement within the Plague flight that marauders and scavengers are to steer clear of her lair out of appreciation for her work. Due to how difficult it is for dragons to locate her lair in order to place an order, Nightshade employs her familiars to deliver trade orders to the various clans, and once payment is made, uses them to deliver her goods to the specified buyers.

Note: Although more than willing to sell her various magical brews, Nightshade is very protective of her spells and hexes. Most of her hexes she designed herself, and due to the widespread destruction they could cause if used incorrectly, Nightshade refuses to teach them to any dragon regardless of what they can offer in exchange.

One of the oldest dragons in the clan, Nightshade has been an acquaintance of Mirewalker's since his early days as a clan leader. She was first introduced to him when Acidfang, a young Mirror she had befriended during his days as a Bloodreaver, brought the young Imperial over to her lair to introduce him to the resident sorceress of the Scarred Wastelands in hopes of acquiring her business. Harboring a soft spot for the young Mirror dragon whose whole life was steeped in anger and resentment, and grateful to the Imperial for being the one to pull him out of the darkness, Nightshade offers the young leader a special deal as thanks for saving her dear friend. Agreeing to do business with Mirewalker’s new clan, Nightshade gives them their first order of potions free of charge as a sign of good will and even offers to stay in their sanctuary for one month to fortify their defenses with some of her best magical wards, poisonous traps, and cursed glyphs.
During her first day in the clan Nightshade occupied her time by exploring the twisted layout of the gorge and mapping out any locations of interest within the territory, discussing with Acidfang and Mirewalker the most viable traps to use in order to minimize the risk of an ambush. As the days slowly stretched on into weeks, Nightshade eventually started interacting with the other sorceresses of the clan, forging bonds together over their shared interest in magecraft. Beginning to teach Cloudfeather how to brew basic potions and panacea’s, helping to experiment with alchemical recipes alongside Briallen, and even showing Rosegold how to cast the basic plague flight spells, Nightshade is content in knowing that the sanctuary will be in safe claws when she leaves. With the last fragments of daylight disappearing over the rim of the gorge, Nightshade wraps up her studies with Rosegold and bids the young Fae goodnight, returning to her temporary den for a well deserved rest. As she snuggles into the soft feathers lining her bedding, the old Skydancer drifts off into a peaceful slumber, blissfully unaware of the tragedy that was about to strike.

Miles away from the slumbering Skydancer, a flock of nature dragons make their way across the desolate earth of the Abiding Boneyard, gazing at the towering heaps of bone circling the Skydancer’s lair with blatant disgust. The nature flight and the plague flight - two sides of the same coin. Both have been at war with each other since the birth of their respective deities, locked in an endless conflict to either purify or defile the earth. It’s a pretty common sight in the world to see opposing members of the 2 flights invading each other’s lands to commit acts of petty vandalism, and this time is no different. Seizing their opportunity with the powerful sorceress’ absence, the floral scented dragons tear down the pillars of bone, smiling in satisfaction as they shatter apart on the ground. Using their affinity for life magic, the pack of dragons effortlessly conjure up beautiful oak trees in place of the pillars and summon up fields of fresh grass to cover the parched earth. In one last spiteful act towards the sorceress and her abhorrent practice of blood magic, the nature dragons break into her lair and incinerate all of her books and spell scrolls. Their objective complete, the dragons slip away into the night as quietly as they came.

As the last day of the month comes to a close, the full moon steadily ascending into the night sky, Mirewalker thanks the Skydancer for all of her help and offers to escort her home. Deciding to take him up on his offer Nightshade unfurls her wings and takes off into the darkening sky, beckoning the Imperial to follow with a flick of her tail. Ascending after the Skydancer, together the two dragons fly over the desolate valley in a comfortable silence, taking in the awe-inspiring sight of the Abiding Boneyard coming into view over the horizon. As they near their destination, Nightshade widens her eyes in shock upon getting a closer look at the once-familiar landscape. The cracked ground previously dyed red from dried blood and overrun with splinters of bone was now bursting to life with sickeningly green flowers and shrubs, and the once intimidating bone hoards constructed around her lair were now lying shattered on the ground with flowering vines growing over the bones; large oak trees having taken root in the place where they once stood. Quickly gliding past the towering trees and over to her den in a panic, Nightshade barges through the entrance only to stop short in horror at the sight of all her life’s work scattered across the floor, charred beyond recognition. Wailing in anguish, the distraught dragon frantically sifts through the mess in search of any recoverable items, ultimately managing to salvage a few scraps of parchment. Feeling guilty that the only reason this happened was because the Skydancer was busy helping his clan, and thus was unable to stay and guard her home, Mirewalker asks the distraught dragon if she would like to live in one of the spare dens in the gorge. Reluctantly agreeing to the idea as long as the den is in an isolated location, Nightshade picks up her few remaining trinkets that are still somewhat recognizable and trails off after Mirewalker, casting one last forlorn look behind her before turning around and padding out of the den.
