Aquamarine impatiently adjusted her shades. This is it, she thought. Maybe today, a dragon will finally notice me. Despite her gorgeous colors, she was always ignored when she went out into Sornieth. Aquamarine could never tell if it was because people didn’t like her brash, bossy personality, or if it was simply because she couldn’t get words in edgewise. She strolled casually around the Trading Post, looking for a vendor to talk to, when finally she caught the eye of Tomo.

She slammed down her fists on the blue Snapper’s stone table. Scribbles recoiled a bit, but surely both scribe and speaker were used to bossy dragons. “Tomo!” she began. “I’d like to answer your questions!” Tomo didn’t say a word at first, looking around for a couple seconds. “Curious,” she finally said after a while. “Never did I think the day would come where a talking group of candles would demand to answer questions!” She chuckled a bit, but Aquamarine was more flustered and impatient by the second. She sighed, then shook her head (which apparently wasn’t visible to Tomo) before walking off.

She was still pacing furiously when a mirror shoved in Crim’s cart caught her eye. She carefully snuck up in case Crim could see her and yanked it out, carefully eyeing it through thick shades to verify it wasn’t broken. What she saw suddenly changed her entire personality. She shuddered, eyes welling with tears, her frustration reaching its peak. It was then she suddenly understood why no one could see her. Her reflection was glowing in the mirror.

Aquamarine was a ghost.
