B I O G R A P H Y

Maya is an individual whose appearance belies her true strength. Unlike her mates, she is not fond of cavorting about in armor or wielding a bladed weapon at her hip. The closest she has is the staff she carries for balance when she must stand on two legs for an extended period of time. It is quite sturdy, as it must be to support her weight, and has served her well for many a time and expedition. But all the same, she is more prone to clothing more practical of her profession. Basket, satchel, and pouch to carry her flora, and protective clothing to shield her from both the sun's rays and to guard against thorns. Clothing made of tightly woven cloth, to be tough and difficult to tear while still being light enough to not be a burden to travel wearing.

As such, this humble farmer and herbalist appears little more than that. A content, shuffling coatl, with a sharp eye for tea and a propensity for rearing the stubborn cacao plant, granted, but little more threat than that. But when both her mates proved to be bold and brash swordsdragons, what could she do but learn to keep up? Besides, it is always good to be able to protect one's self.

Her true skill lies in her very body. While she may be useless when handed a weapon, Maya does not need a weapon to have you flat on the ground with a simple hip toss whilst you were distracted. It is little effort to enact a takedown on a dragon who underestimates their opponent, because how can one effectively fight back when one was not preparing for a fight in the first place? Best to keep your eyes open and doubts checked when dealing with even the most unsuspecting of individuals, because one never knows when a small lapse in judgement will wind up with them quite humiliated and with a bruised should from being thrown on that rock.

Of course, do not mistake her for the aggressive type, or even the fiery type. Maya is much more at home with a hot cup of tea than on the battlefield, and her knack for the blends is what really shines through when you truly start to understand her. She knows just what to prescribe for any situation. Feeling anxious? Have some Kava, or Valerian Root. Difficult sleeping? Have some Chamomile, or Lavender flower. Just want a drink? Well what do you prefer, herbal, sweet, strong, gentle?

She is also of a remarkable talent for raising the finicky cacao plant, known to wither if conditions are even slightly out of it's favor. It is difficult to pinpoint where exactly this skill comes from, but she rarely loses any that she tries to rear, and all but a small clawful of seeds that she plants come into full bloom. Chocolate-lovers rejoice, the Queen has arrived.

Outside of tea-blending, growing her plants, and keeping up with her more feisty mates, Maya's time is mostly consumed. She enjoys reading about herbal medicine when she has the time, and is quite festive in the dark of winter, finding holiday cheer as infectious as the common cold, and spending the month celebrating with her mates, dressing up and gift-giving to all they see. But that is only once in the year, and beyond that, she is quite content with her quiet life. Or at least, as quiet as she can manage, with Rudolph and Nicholas around.
