He was so young when he hatched, so small and weak. A blizzard had driven his mother away, eggs clutched tightly in her claws, but the wind was strong, and the snow covered everything, raged around her and burned when it fell into her eyes - it was an accident, a tragic mistake that that hurled the fragile egg against the unyielding mountains his mother had tried to escape.

She found him quickly, with broken wings and screaming for help. The world was cold to him, painful, and so utterly lonely - until his mother wrapped her body around him, held him close to her beating heart. The second egg was cracked but intact, and both children survived the blizzard, wrapped up in their mother's embrace - unknowing of the fact that she was willing to die for them. But she did not die. She was found by her mate, she and the children brought to safety hours later.

He survived, but the crash and the cold had left its mark on him. Barely able to feel the cold - or any kind of pain, for that matter, he became what many other dragons of his clan believed to be the perfect conditions to become what they were, what his father and eldest brother was: an assassin.

Tireless training shaped him into the nearly perfect killer. Cunning, strong and without fear, he obeys his orders. He is not the perfect soldier, though. His wings, deformed and aching painfully during every flight, simply weren't strong enough to carry his weight.

It is his search for a healer that lured him away from home - even when everyone told him it was hopeless. When they all told him he could stay to guard those dragons of their clan who could not hunt and kill like the assassins. He needed to be perfect - just like his oldest brother is, in his eyes.
