Biography
He was a remnant of the darkness
From when shadows ruled the earth
Before light could rival the empty silence
Of a land untouched by warmth
He was a remnant of the darkness
A searing blizzard so cold it burned
Closed to the world around him
A spark of light he yearned.
And when the heavens did open
And the sun's warming rays poured in
He had just a moment to bathe in splendour
Before his vision grew dim
For shadows aren't supposed to live in brightness
The darkness must always stay close to the dark
And even as he wished for the touch of sunlight
The warming rays tore him apart
And he cried as he fled to the shadows
He cried because his dream cut him to the core
If the light he sought was but a reaper's blade
What had he been wishing for?
And like the waning moon, his dream
Turned as bitter as the darkest night
If the day would not cede to him
Then he swore he'd destroy all light.
So on the darkest nights you can see him
Chasing after the moon
Devouring all her silvery brightness
In an effort to bring the world ruin.
On the darkest nights you can hear him
Crying out to the uncaring moon
For he loved light from the bottom of his heart
Yet its brightness would bring his doom.
He was a remnant of the darkness
I wonder, is all that's evil dark?
Maybe those who dwell within the shadows
Harbour the brightest lights in their hearts.
