True Familiar:
Venomous Toridae
Personality: Beech is an intensely curious, adventurous dragon. She is inquisitive almost to a fault, constantly asking questions about the world and the creatures in it. Consequently she has many friends, including among the local longneck tribes of the mountains and serthis families in the Ashfalls where she was born. But she doesn’t stay in any one place for long, preferring to always be on the move and exploring to learn something new.

History: When her parents Bottlebrush and Eucalyptus decided to settle with the recently reformed Clan Uncia, they thought their young daughter Beech would be glad for it. Would be happy to settle, put down roots, and develop long lasting and powerful friendships. They underestimated their spunky fledgling, however. Sure, Beech liked making friends, but in order to make friends you had to go where there were new people. She was constantly sneaking off, poking her nose wherever there were interesting secrets to uncover and dragons to meet. Eventually she stopped coming back all that often, spending more nights than not out of Uncia territory.

Along the way, she met a grizzled old guardian named Quicksnap who surprised her by declaring that she was his charge. At first Beech was wary, worried that Quicksnap would try to force her somewhere "safe" and curb her adventuring, but to her relief he showed no inclination to do any such thing. Instead he merely followed where she led, generally letting her do as she wished so long as she wasn't putting herself in too much potential peril. He was good company too, with a lively sense of humor and a sly playfulness that saw him and Beech becoming fast friends. And he proved useful to have around, saving her life from rogue monsters and unfriendly beastclans on more than one occasion.

Beech had a brush with death when she made the mistake of poking too close to the cultish Clan Haemo. A skydancer with the group, his plumage red as blood, attacked the duo with a terrifying magic they'd never seen before. Quicksnap tried to defend Beech, but to her horror the skydancer used his magic to transform her friend into a toridae- one with heavy-lidded, glazed eyes that attacked her on the skydancers orders. Quicksnap tore off one of her legs, and might have killed her were it not for the last minute intervention of Clay Brayuh. This clan took her in and nursed her back to health. Initially, once they returned her to her parents in Uncia, Beech was despondent and hurt. She’d heard stories her parents had told to warn her that not everyone she met was friendly, but this was the first time she’d personally come up against such blatant cruelty. Should she give up exploring? Stay safe, in the fold of a clan like so many advised her to?

She soon rejected this notion, however. What was the point to life if you lived it in fear? And what right did Clan Haemo have, to hurt people they way they’d hurt her? And they still had her friend held captive- she needed to find a way to rescue him!

And so Beech took to the skies as a loner once again- a loner, but not alone. She still made friends, but she also brought them together with the common purpose of protecting those innocents who were hurt and taken advantage of. Her message was one of justice. Of hope. And she would cry it loud and clear into the wide winter sky of the Southern Icefields.
