Suskind vient du clan du tonnerre, et il en a gardé dans le caractère une certaine soudaineté et une rapidité propre à ses origines. Mais il a développé à son arrivée dans le clan de Saphire-Luna une véritable fascination pour l'eau, et tout particulièrement les rivières et les plans d'eau calme. Il aime suivre des yeux les poissons pendant des heures, avant de fondre brutalement sur eux dans une grande gerbe d'éclaboussures. C'est devenu progressivement un excellent nageur, jusqu'à se transformer en undertide. Il adore également crapahuter sur les rochers ou les plages pour chercher mollusques et autres crustacés. Personne n'a donc eu besoin de lui demander de se charger de l'approvisionnement en poissons, et c'est de lui-même qu'il est devenu le pêcheur en eau douce attitré du clan.

Suskind est un dragon social et souriant, au caractère enjoué et au contact facile. Il s'entend bien avec tout le monde, mais est particulièrement ami avec Melville, qui partage sa passion pour l'eau. C'est d'ailleurs Suskind qui lui a fait visiter le territoire du clan jusqu'à lui faire découvrir ce qui allait devenir la plage préférée du ridgeback. Suskind aime bien ce grand timide un peu taiseux, et le force de temps en temps à sociabiliser. Mais la compagne qui partage sa vie et sa tanière est Clio, timide mais désireuse de s'intégrer davantage. Suskind est ravi de l'y aider.

Suskind a pour familiers des petits crocodiles, qui aiment le suivre dans sa pêche en barbotant derrière lui. Ceux-ci sont particulièrement mignons, mais pincent aussi fort que des pièges à loup.
