S T O R Y The lost king looked around at the wasteland that surrounded him. It was once a prosperous kingdom - his kingdom - but now it was unrecognizable and barren. Not a single was left, all had either perished here waiting for his return or left when their faith ran out. A thousand years of slumber, an inescapable punishment passed on through his lineage, from so far back that not even the stories of what had transpired to incur such wrath survived. His sadness was so great that he didn’t even have the capacity to curse his ancestors for their choices. All Serendipity could do was let out a hollow laugh at the irony of his family name. He looked down at his sword, still as sharp as the day his father passed it down to his hands. It too, had been frozen in time with him. It was likely the only relic left from his time, aside from himself. It would be fitting if it was what ended his own life by his own hands. He shook his head, casting away such thoughts. It wouldn’t be what his people would have wanted. He wandered the lands, reminiscing and grieving his lost people. He wondered how many stayed until the end, tied to their hope that he would return within their lifespan. He could not change the past, but the price of the curse had been paid. He could for a new path for himself. Perhaps, one day, he could even fulfill his family name.
