B I O G R A P H Y

______ I flew through the air, my crystal wings shimmering in the sky. My wings has always been my greatest feature, but also my worst memory. I was just a hatchling when the dragons came. I was still learning about the meaning of my wings and the powers they had in our world. But I never got to find out at all because of that one fateful day. I was outside my family's den, trying to learn to fly. My small wings pushed against the ground, the blue colors sparkling in the sun. My mom and dad were right there next to me, helping me as I went. It was so much fun. Then I heard it - the deep roars and the loud thundering footsteps. I remember landing on the ground and watching my parents joyful faces turn into ones of fear. “Mama, what's going on?” I asked, too young to realize what was happening. “They weren't supposed to find us so soon. We were supposed to have more time.” My father said tears filling his eyes as he looked at my mom then me. Seeing him crying only made me cry. “Dad, what's going on? I’m scared.” I cried in fear as the footsteps started to get louder, the low roars getting closer. I felt my small body start to shake with fear. My mother bent down, grabbing my shaking body and making soft shushing noises. “It's time.” She said to my dad who crouched down next to me. I felt my eyes dart back and forth between them, desperately trying to figure out what was going on.


______ "Honey, I know it's going to be hard, but we need you to run. We need to you run into those forests and never look back. Don't stop running no matter what. Run as long and far as you can. Find shelter in dens, not with clans.” My dad said gently caressing my head as he spoke. I could feel the tears falling, I didn't like this new game. It wasn't fun. “Hush now my sweets. Everything's going to be alright. Mommy and daddy are going to stay here but just know that we love you. We always have and always will love you. You are strong and brave and hold power deep within you. Never forget that my sweets,” she said, kissing my cheeks before her and my dad stood up. I stopped my tears, I could be brave I told myself. “Go now, son, and know that we love you.” They said before turning away. I'll never forget the days that followed. They were hard days - I couldn't get much food and my body was in a constant state of pain thanks to all the running I was doing. The few times I stopped I could never get much sleep thanks to the dreams that haunted me. So I ran and I ran for days, only a few times catching sight of other dragons. I refused to stop, I couldn't stop. I had to be brave for my parents. I had to be strong to survive. So as I grew I got stronger, I tried to learn more about my wings and why they caused the death of my parents, but I always came up short. But I would never give up, I would search the ends of the world for the information I needed.
