Biography
|
Bosco sat, delicately wrapping his tail around his paws. For a moment he simply took in the crowd and reveled in the moment. It was difficult to tell in the evening twilight, but he was sure there were new faces staring up at him. Good. Moving to the frigid ice domain had been the right chose; they were as sun-starved as he'd expected. And he was more than willing to share the warmth of his gift. For he had once been as deprived and lost as they were, sulking in the darkness and moving in the shadows. He'd been born in the no-man's land between the plague and shadow domains, but owed allegiance to neither. Plague valued the struggle of the lone survivor and Shadow shunned the crimson tint in his eyes. He was alone, lost in a culture that he could never be a part of. He yearned for a family. A clan. A place to belong. A sense of warmth and community and home. He yearned for the sun, even if he didn't know it at the time. And, when the sun finally broke through the eternal night one fateful moment, he knew it was for him. It seared his eyes, but he didn't cower away like the others. He stood tall, wings flared, as the darkness dripped from his fur and the crimson in his eyes lightened. He had been found, impossibly, by the only ray of sunlight that passed through the night. It was warm as it filled him up. Gentle as it sparkled around him. And, for the first time, he glowed in the eternal twilight; a reflection of sun in his own right. And he'd turned his burning gaze upon those dark dragons and freed them from the night. They were the first to follow him as he made his way out of the tangled woods. They orbited him, quiet, basking in the gentle warmth of his presence. They kept the crowd back, acting as liaison between him and the dragons that crawled out of the brambles to watch him pass. And they were the ones that agreed to follow him to the sun-starved ice domain. He trusted them completely; they'd proven their devotion time and time again, never wavering as they moved from the darkness towards the cold-darkness. He trusted them, for they had seen the sunlight. He trusted them for they had seen him chosen. He trusted them because they had been blind by the darkness and were now staring, unblinking into the radiance of the sun caught in his wings. |
