You step into the young sage's lair and your jaw falls open in shock. The walls are laced with gold silk, gems, golden chains, and it's lit by beautiful gold candles. The sage turns as you enter. "Oh! Hi! My name's Dawn!" she notes the awestruck smile on your face. "Yes, I really like the colour gold! It's just so pretty!" she giggles and grabs you by your talons. "Come in! Maisie, my girlfriend, is out collecting herbs for this stupid 'head cold' thingy she has." she explains, pointing to the only spot in the room where the decor is blue rather than gold. "That's where he usually works," she adds, sauntering further into her den. "It's kinda pretty, isn't it?" she says softly, gazing around, the silk on her head falling into her eyes. She hastily brushes it away and smiles at you. "You're not from our kingdom, I don't think...unless you're new...anyway! Lemme show you around!" she exclaims, pulling you into the deep den, and you can't help but follow.
The Curse
Originally, Dawn was a light dragon, with brilliant yellow eyes and the most radiant personality on a dragon that you've ever seen...but one day a dark mage put a spell on her, turning her dark. She was brutal and mean and violent, using her strength and even her beauty to get her way. Nobody knew what to do. Even Maisie, her intelligent girlfriend, had no idea what to do. Eventually, Rune, another mage in the clan, broke the spell. ... Well, mostly. The spell had 7,000 different levels and had to be broken by doing terrible things, like murder, sacrifice, and other awful things. Rune used her magic to break 6,998 levels, but the last two things, no one in the entire clan could do, and no one from other kingdoms was willing to help an imperial sage from a clan they'd never visited. So, she was stuck with feathers for a brain, so she's still ditsy and silly, and the dark shadow eyes...she'll never be the same.
Once she had settled into the kingdom, she became a healer and put her magic talons to good use. She'd been granted healing touch by Rune's spell, and knew she needed to use her powers for good. After a little while of living there, she was approached by a shy white coatl named Maisie, who was the kingdom's historian. She told the beautiful imperial that she had feelings for her, and at first, Dawn didn't know what to say. She'd been raised under the idea that same sex relationships were frowned upon and that they were wrong, so Maisie said she could sleep on it and get back to her once she'd decided. After a few days, Dawn realized that she felt the same way about the sweet little coatl. They've been dating for three years, but neither one has made a move towards marriage.
