She laid comfortably amongst the branches, her own pearl safely wrapped in her tail, while Riptide's sat in her claws. "Mmm..." She relished in his fear, drank it all in as he scrambled around desperately until he finally turned to her location in the tree. He looked up amongst its many branches, before shouting her name. "Cotil!" He shook his head in bitter resentment of her and flew up into the large pine to find her. He gripped onto the branches as he climbed the thick limbs of the tree, making his way up to her position near the peak. "Riptide, how wonderful it is to see you again!" She purred, beginning to rustle her way further into the pine as she hid from him, slowly crawling down with soft quiet movements. "Cotil!" He shouted again, fuming with anger as the image of the dragon returned to his head, the beautiful and yet haunting creature that was a freak of nature. "Where is my pearl?" He yelled, his teeth gritted together. "If you want it back, you better have something to give in return..." She smiled, coiling herself around the trunk of the pine as Riptide continued to crawl higher. "I expect something good this time." She licked her lips, he was still fearful of her presence, though she suspected it had more to do with the seperation of his pearl. The male recognized where the voice was coming from, and instantly started down the tree again, desperate to feel the smoothness of his pearl beneath his claws once again. "You will be giving it to me, whether you want to or not." She laughed, watching as she saw his blue coat flashing between the branches. "Oh Riptide, is that not what you said last time?" Riptide turned, finding himself face to face with the creature, tremors of terror and fear raced through him, he tried to stay composed but ended shaking, and shut his eyes tight. "I'll see you when you have a worthy offer." She whispered hoarsely, and when Riptide finally got the courage to open his eyes and respond, she was already gone, and he faintly saw the outline of her disappearing into the sky. Yet it seemed off... an Imperial, not the Pearlcatcher he had just faced. Before he could ponder over it more, she was gone, vanished without a trace, until he could find something worth while. But what? |

"Just wait until I land!" She snarled, turning and heading towards one of the mountains to make a quick emergency landing. Her claw twitched, and she felt Riptide's pearl slip from her grasp, and began falling to the ground. "No!" She screeched and dived down to catch the tumbling pearl, breathing in relief as the pearl was safely in her clutches once again. It was relieving until she tried to pull up. Her wings didn't work. She couldn't feel them, it wasn't in her control anymore, the damned imperial had come back again. "I said wait until I land!" But it was too late, and she could do nothing but close her eyes tight as she braced for impact. She awoke what felt like moments later, with stiff muscles and no sun in the sky, the only source of illumination was the bones that glowed a soft and eerie blue underneath her skin. She was alive. Or as alive as she could get. "What did I tell you? Be more careful next time!" She hissed, growling to what seemed to be herself. As she dusted herself off and stood, she noticed there was only one remaining pearl. Around it lay the shattered pieces of Riptide's. She quickly picked up her own pearl and stuffed the sharp pieces of the other into a satchel. She looked around for a cave, somewhere she could be hidden from the sight of others, but instead her eyes caught on the glowing red light echoing across the snowy plains. |
