The shadowy wrath of the Shade... it calls to those descended of the first Shade-Touched. It calls me.

It's hard to resist it, yet it pains me to succumb. It hurts to succumb. You want to, but it hurts beyond what a mortal can imagine.

The Shade. Heh. Such a small word can strike so much fear into the hearts of others. It's quite petty. Yet, it is much more than a single, short word. It is a legacy. It is a powerful, bribing force. It is something beyond any single dragon's control. It is something you live with.

It leaves a legacy behind through the First. It bribes you using little, dark promises of a better life. It is beyond every dragon's control, especially mine and others with this curse. We all have to live with it.

It is your birthright. It is promised.

It calls to claim those whom are destined to join the Gatekeeper. Those who are Touched never know happiness, love or even hope...

Shade-Touched parents needn't worry about their hatchlings. The Shade cradles and protects us for them. They have no need to provide us with love or warmth.

I nearly succumbed once. It was painful, very. I can't live with myself. I wish to succumb, but... the pain is far too much for my fragile body...

I don't want to live in this nightmare anymore...
