Biography

Forest Zombie Hell Yeah

A undead brought back by... someone. No one really knows who brought her back to life, but one thing's for certain: she's very different now.

Druidic Emblem x Grave Dust x Death Seeker
Tatterwing Carcass x [item-bloody wing bandages]

---

It was too bright. Her wings hurt. So did everything else. Distantly she was aware that she was not supposed to hurt, but really, what good was that knowledge? She managed to stand up, and then noticed the bandages. Old and blood-soaked, looking at them made her head spin and she felt distantly a memory that dissipated the moment she tried to remember it.

She wandered until she found a blue Mirror dragon, and she stared at him for a moment before opening her mouth (her jaw hurt, too) to speak.

Before she could say a word, the Mirror interrupted, "You look like you've been in a nasty fight."

"I have been," she replied, not sure of where the fact came from. "Who are you?"

"You can call me Fin," said the Mirror. "What's your name?"

She faltered. "I... don't know."

Fin circled her, then sat back to look her up and down. "I don't have a name for you, either."

The Guardian gave a hollow laugh, and then started a fit of coughing that lasted just long enough to be awkward. It was as though she hadn't laughed in years.

"You sound sick," Fin said, stating the obvious.

"I think I am," she said. "I'm aching and tired and all that jazz."

He gave a weird smile. "That would be a good name for you. Jazz."

She considered it. "Jazz." She liked it, liked it a lot. "I'll take it."

"Nice to meet you, Jazz," Fin said brightly. "You wanna come back to my clan? We're pretty cool, if I do say so myself. And, hey, we could always use more Natural magicians... even if you are a Light dragon."

Jazz blinked at him. "Sorry, what?"

"You know, your emblem." He pointed at the green glow that Jazz only then realized was floating above her eyes.

"I... don't know where that came from." Even as she said that, she remembered leaves and flashes of light and someone else.

Fin shrugged. "Well, I guess it's like that sometimes. And, hey, since you're coming with me, my full name's Islafin, but you can keep calling me Fin."

Jazz nodded, feeling her headache grow stronger. "Yeah. Okay, Fin. I guess it is like that sometimes."

---
For the first week, she smelled like death. Literally. Quite a few dragons felt compelled to offer her their condolences for her loss, and then seemed confused as to why they had done that. Quill had eyed her up and down and then had shaken her head in sadness. Jazz didn't know how to ask what she had done wrong.

"Ah, don't mind 'em," Fin said. "Sure, you look and smell like you died-" Jazz felt like it, too "-but that's nothing some flowers and a bath can't fix. We'll have to do something about those bandages, though. Maybe Cal can change 'em. He's that Guardian healer? You'll like him, he's cool."

Calvin was one of the first two dragons to make up the clan, along with Nebb, another Guardian. It was clear Calvin's Charge were his two mates, and it was clear that Nebb's Charge was the clan. As Calvin patched her up, he told Jazz stories of his time in the clan, interspersed with comments on how her wounds seemed like reopened old ones.

"I'll change your bandages to keep 'em fresh, but these are gonna leave some nasty scars when they heal."

That had been months ago. Jazz's wounds still hadn't healed. "It's like you're a corpse," Fin had commented idly. "Least you don't smell like one anymore."

That was true. It had taken a while (and some flowers), but Jazz now smelled like a living, breathing soul. She almost felt like it, too.
