Cold. That was the first thing Nabirye registered in their awakening consciousness. As they started to come around, Nabirye made a startling realization they had no idea where they were or why their space was so mall. They frantically struggled which the Snapper realized were linen wrappings around them. Who would do this to a living person? They knew their people's custom was to mummify the dead, but they weren't dead. Anyone that was in the tomb would have seen the sarcophagus burst open as a mummified Snapper crawled out, bandages hanging off of them along with the jewelry they were buried with. Nabirye stumbled in the dark for awhile, before they finally found a lamp and was able to light it using their magic pumping through their veins. What the light revealed horrified them. A sarcophagus made in their image, now opened rested in the middle of the room. The jewelry Nabirye made for themselves and family clutters the room along with other stuff that people who are crossing over bring with them to their after life. But they weren't dead? They're very obviously alive! As Nabirye looked in shock, their eyes caught their reflection. Half of their face was gone! Completely rotted away. Their body was wrapped to hide the dead flesh underneath it. How could this even be? It's obvious something had happened. Did someone curse Nabirye to live a cursed life as their rotting form? Out of fear, Nabirye bolted out of their tomb and was able to dig out of it after so long of digging. The Snapper did not dare return to their clan. As much as they wanted to see their children. Nabirye knew they would all see them as a monster for defying the ways of the gods. For months, the mummy wandered the lands, searching for anything. Anyone that would accept her and not see them as a monster, or a scientific specimen even to poke and prod. Finally, Nabirye stumbled upon the Isles of Memoria where they got the shock of their undead life when they saw two ghosts chatting idly with regular dragons. It took a week for Nabirye to steel their nerves and walk proudly into the clan. Not one dragon gave them more than a glance. This excited the mummy, perhaps this could be their new home! Once meeting with the queen, Nabirye discovered the clan hosted a wide variety of monsters that are quite friendly. The queen gave the Snapper permission to settle within the clan as the resident Jeweler, since the last one recently left. Nabirye couldn't be any happier. Nabirye likes to believe they are sophisticated with how they carry themselves, and that's true for the most part. Unfortunately her more forgetful nature makes them seem flaky. Tripping over their bandages isn't the most sophisticated thing. But with how kind Nabirye can be, many know they aren't being flaky to be cruel. It can get annoying but people deal with it. As long as they don't forget to complete their jewelry orders by the allotted time. |
