Clan Leader
The Crownless King

Calm and reserved to the point of pacifism, Rian's focus is defending his clan from any and all threats. Though they respect him as "King", he views himself as "Guard" and his clanmates as friends. In danger, Rian's response is to defend and return alive. He is subordinate to whomever he regards as his leader- in this case, Aine, who claims she saved his life and that he belongs to her. While she has a sharper tongue and sharper claws, he only protects his clanmates from her- never himself. He occasionally enjoys her company, and besides, she's never put his life in serious danger.

Despite being passive and defensive, Rian can be motivated to attack if his clan is threatened. It doesn't matter if Aine has sent their clanmates to war or if the clan themselves is under attack in the dead of night; Rian will use lethal force if desperate enough. Some say he's on the wrong side; he should be the leader but is Aine's subordinate. Those some are correct.

Rian has authority - the others follow his words because they like him, his style, and they view him as the leader. The problem is, he doesn't believe in himself.
Aine has power - the others follow her despite disliking her. They can't go against her and bend to her wishes. The problem is, she's arrogant as sin.
