Biography
Founder, leader, and a former warrior/hunter. Now helps plan and oversee construction for the clan.
falcon instead?
Description of the clan/towns layout going here just to have it somewhere.
Closer to the snowsquall tundra than reclaimer's glacier, but still far enough into the mountains that communication with other clans is scarce- barring urgent messages or trade agreements handled by Idris.
The town itself is tucked into a shallow valley surrounded on all sides by evergreens, on one of the more accessible (though still harsh) paths through the crags. The town's name is Pinewick, when the clan was founded Dusk and Keeper often referred to the area they were settling as "the pine grove." This eventually morphed into it's currrent name. The clan sees many visitors and dragons traveling through the mountains, and because of it's hospitality has gained a small reputation as a safe haven before the worst of the journey. Many of these travellers are accompanied by longneck guides from an allied group.
Above-ground, it appears to be a small hamlet that consists of a handful of buildings, a town square, a few greenhouses, a barn or two, and a gate with a sign proclaiming the town's name. Some buildings sit very close to the mountain walls, and these are entrances to where most of the clan actually resides. The main entrance is an unassuming one-story building next to the town square, but one could access the complex of tunnels and rooms through any of the buildings close enough to the mountainsides (these buildings consist of the library, Chess' home, one of the greenhouses, and Alden's home/workspace.)
The inside of the complex is less like a cave and more like a sprawling maze of corridors, living quarters, offices, workshops, and storage rooms. They can be somewhat told apart by differences in architecture and decoration, but even some dragons who have been with the clan since the beginning get turned around from time to time. Despite being underground, many rooms do have windows and access to the outside - though these are hidden by a spell that was inspired by the stranglers in the surrounding woods and how they camouflage themselves in snowdrifts.
At the highest (safe) point of the peak is an observatory usually occupied by Sintara though many dragons visit it for either research or simply because it has an amazing view.
Closer to the base of the mountain is Glaucus' library, though it is above-ground, it's still partially built into the rock behind it.
At the very bottom of the winding halls is the vault, which Chess very rarely allows anyone other than the clan leaders in without a good reason to.
Visitors are generally not trusted with access to the complex, but if one is staying for a longer period of time or the weather is particularly harsh they may be welcomed in, with some restrictions.
-
Magic is incorporated throughout the territory, most obviously to visitors is the faint Fire runes engraved on some of the stones making up the pathways of the town square. The runes keep the stones just warm enough to melt snow and ice off, and all of the lampposts lining these paths also have similar enchantments. Fire runes are also used in the greenhouses, the barns, and the underground areas to keep them insulated.
When tunnels are constructed, the clan contacts an Earth mage or two to enchant the supports with seals to prevent them from collapsing (or, if they do collapse, to act as an early warning system.)
