Many years, they had watched the world along with others, seeking understanding and knowledge of things that no living being would ever be able to grasp, the sheer extension of the things they knew driving many who sought to understand mad. One turned to the skies, and wished to know about the infinity that lied outside of this world that gave them power. The other wrote everything down, whereas the third searched more erratically- seeking knowledge on anything within this world. They learned, and the second wrote it down. For as long as the trio had excised- not lived, entities like them couldn't be considered 'alive'- the only infinite they knew of was that of the skies and space the first tried to understand. However, after what could be eons the third found a new infinite, something they could never truly grasp. Such a secret the living had been keeping- so common yet impossible to understand.

Emotion, morality, instinct....

What were those things? How could a being that had never felt or experienced any of that ever dream of understanding those? The third sought understanding, desperate to grasp the meaning and purpose those foreign, strange concepts held, but failed.

They could tell what those things were, but not why and how. How does anger work? How is it created? What about sorrow, worry, love?! What are dreams? What is hope and despair?

More and more questions, none ever answered.

Shapeless and unable to have their presence noted by the living, they sought understanding.

The first time they appeared they looked small, frail. The ones they approached looked worried at times, sometimes they got a cruel glint to their eyes but more often than not it was apathy or indifference. What causes the difference between the groups? What made them feel?

Could a being like them ever truly understand it, or was it something that due to the nature of their existence could never be grasped...?

Beings like them were fairly unusual, but to find one who knew of these...things was something akin to encountering an entity that shouldn't exist

Yet it did, and it offered an understanding, an explanation.

"One can only learn of emotion and such when experiencing it, would you like to gain feelings?"
