Subspecies Lore
Sacrificial Flames are a subspecies of dragons born from a sacrifice made to save the lives of a helpless family from The Shade. The Hero died in his sacrifice, but was gifted life from Flamecaller in appreciation of what he did. The hero lives on to this day. After his sacrifice, more dragons with his distinct patterns started appearing over Sornieth. Some shared his’s genes down to his glimmering belly and fire eyes. Others, do not. They are still Sacrificial Flames, but they are not the hero Inigo’s Flames. Dragons born without fire eyes and without glimmer are still Sacrificial Flames, but do not have the unfortunate trend of having the shorter lifespan of Inigo’s Flames.

Subspecies Behavior
The Sacrificial Flames are dragons that protect others, particularly children. These dragons display altruistic tendencies and often end up as healers or warriors to protect their clans. Often The Sacrificial Flames have families of their own, and while their hatchlings are still young, they drop everything to raise the babies until they can leave the clan. Families of (or with) Sacrificial Flames are incredibly close knit, as Sacrificial Flames are incredibly devoted parents and partners.

Subspecies Loyaly
These dragons are also known to be incredibly loyal to Flamecaller herself in appreciation for their lives. They often create pieces and leave her offerings at her hearth and outside her many forges. Even Sacrificial Flames who no longer reside in Ashfall waste remain loyal to Flamecaller and create gifts for her.
