I stood at the gates, which now creaked as they slowly opened at the touch of my talons. The simple action of knocking was all that it took to give me the power to roam the castle, care free.
I nearly gasped at the sight laid upon me. Pillars reached for the clouds, holding the weight of the star painted sky, statues of our prior kings, and then, the most beautiful of all; Odysseus upon his throne, next to his mate, Blanda. Their forbidden love was an inspiration to the young starseeker, wishing everyone realized that love was more than ranks and treasure.
"What brings you here?" The king asked, beckoning her over with his talons outstretched.
"I needed to speak with you." I said simply, walking towards him. "How do you ignore those who are against your marriage? Your wings are a mark of your kingship, while hers are the mark of a harvester. I myself have nothing against it, but, I've fallen for a prince, as a harvester." Her voice drifted to a mumble, but looked up at the king's laughter which boomed throughout the halls of the castle.
"You musn't listen, of course!" He nodded. "They aren't right, when it comes to love. The pattern on your wings doesn't show the pattern of your heart." His wise words filled my head, and I nodded.
"Thank you, sir. I will remember that." I nodded, and turned around.
"Wait, dear, are you Neptune?" Blanda's voice caught her attention, and she turned back.
"Yes, how come?" I sat down in front of the two.
"I think this prince you are talking about loves you very much... Prince Roman?" I nodded, a confused look on my face.
"He was talking about this earlier, but about you. No worries about you two, your loyalty will pull you through." I felt as a smiled spread on my face, my thoughts trailing to him being in here earlier.
"Thank you, her majesty." I bowed my head. "And your majesty."
"You are quite welcome, dear. You should get back to your king, now." She bowed back. "Thank you for the visit!" She called as I left, new confidence building in my chest.
Perhaps our love wouldn't be so forbidden afterall...
