Biography

___________________________________________________________
Alaric
- Labyrinthe Warden -
XJcW0ec.png
♛“My soul is worn and ragged from what I've done. May those I've harmed forgive me.”♛

______ From the journals of Renault the Grim:

______ If you are reading this, then you are following a path few should. A path below tread by me and countless other outcasts. Regrettably, you may be one more soul who hasn't deserved this, peaceful and lamenting. Unlike myself, who deserves all punishment that the deities deign to send his way. Your cries shall be unheard to all for eternity. Death awaits those who turn back, slaughtering the weak and scared, those who dare to crawl back...Back to kingdoms and clans and lairs, they aren't apart of anymore. This is your world now and down here; Death is patient. It is skulking in the dark, reaching with gory talons for the last thing you can call your own. Mistakes will be paid in blood and hesitation shall spell your doom.

Many have been sent here before and many will follow, dragon and beast alike. Banished from the ever-lasting Sornieth by the eager, brutal claws of Fate. They who treasure wealth and power more than their souls; who use violence and extortion to keep their fraudulent hopes burning; they who were blamed for actions not their own and those who were rightly accused. We are cursed to slowly rot in this lonely, diety-forsaken place.

Find me. Find and follow me into this darkened, forgotten place and I shall be your gloomy light in the darkest of hours. Find me in the Atrium of Reconciliation, in the Auditorium of the Traitor, in the Altar in the Crypt, in the Labyrinthe.

Alaric is one of the few dragons in the sprawling Labyrinthe who knows their way around. The area is large enough to be underneath the whole of Sornieth, so the mere fact that Alaric recalls every cranny of the area, let alone every creature inside it, is a miraculous and saddening thought. If you trust the maddened whispers between the others trapped in the maze, Alaric built it himself.

What is not rumors and conjecture is that he came to the Labyrinthe for absolution for his sins. He claims that he was apart of an event called the "Catcher Games" in the past when Pearlcatchers and Imperials were much more hostile to each other. These "games" led to Pearlcatchers going insane for the amusement of others. Alaric was one of the Imperials in charge of Enforcement, those who crushed a Pearl to punish a dragon for their misdeeds, fabricated or otherwise.

Each Pearl crushed sent that particular Pearlcatchers soul through Alaric, creating a disassociation with reality. Their experiences and personalities would overwhelm the Imperial, and he began collecting the fragments afterward, trying to piece them back together, round them out, and at least return one of the larger pieces to the Pearlcatcher who'd owned it. A small and accidentally cruel action, but one he couldn't stop doing. The pieces he didn't deem worthy of the owner, as they were ugly or unsafe, Alaric keeps in a satchel as if he were a Pearlcatcher himself. If Alaric meets a Pearlcatcher in the Labyrinthe, he is extremely respectful, lowering himself and pulling himself into a smaller size as best as he can. His actions caused his inner Light to dim, leading to his eyes darkening to an dark amber and then eventually into blindness.

Alaric is the calmest of the three First and falls to the Guide role, leading dragons to the Courtroom where it is decided if they deserve to stay or if they are innocent. If they are declared innocent and are mentally capable of leaving the Labyrinthe without causing harm, Alaric will guide them to the exit.

Exalting Alaric to the service of the Earthshaker will remove them from your lair forever. They will leave behind a small sum of riches that they have accumulated. This action is irreversible.
