Biography
T E R E T
grand shadespeaker
where do you suppose they came from?
— — —
-Teret. Be cautious; there is more to them than meets the eye.
-his every step is carefully calculated. Every motion, precise. He expends only as much energy as is necessary; he has none to spare.
-He remembers when his life changed. A child, running through the night, full of fear and so, so much rage. A crumbling church in the darkest part of the Tangled Wood, unused for centuries. He remembers, strangely, that he did not feel any fear when the shadows began to stir. He felt even less when they began to speak. His old name was forgotten, that night. His name was Teret, just as his twin’s was.
-There is a pit in this one’s heart, so deep and dark that even the Shadowbinder would fear to enter it.
-He does not record his own history anymore. The spit that would once have added layers to their pearl serves a much graver purpose. His claws shimmer strangely in the light, like dark opals.
-Each night, they dream of pallid feathers and empty skies.
-The words that were said to him on that day haunt him; “Our name shall be Teret and Teret, Grand Shadespeaker, until the day we are parted.”
-When they find themself in civilized spaces, they carry a parasol to shield themself from the daylight. Despite this, it is almost always folded.
-He recognizes the reek of fear on the one-eyed ridgeback that guards the gate. Good. He’s happy to have left a lasting impression.
