"Salkhi's Outpost". So named after an unknown being mentioned in a deteriorating script the Founders stumbled upon. The paper itself was found in a ruined dwelling; the only architecture for miles in the territory. What's left of the script seems to suggest it was a part of a hymn dedicated to someone named "Salkhi". At least, that's how Founder Aegis interpreted it as; for the supposed hymn was written in an ancient beastclan tongue that had little to no references. Of course, this led to the question of who was this "Salkhi" the hymn extolled. Some believed them to be a great beastclan leader. Still, others say that it must be some deity they held in high degree. whatever the case may be, the town's name was inspired by said hymn and for most, that's where the story stops. Now you may be curious as to how all this relates to the dragon, Araki. But then again, you may have already pieced together that "Araki" is "Salkhi". Indeed, they are one and the same, and they have watched over the land that the trading town now resides in for a very long time. What they precisely are is still a mystery but for now, they don't seem to mean any harm to Salkhi's Outpost. "Likely benevolent, if capricious." As described by Aegis, one of only two that knows the true identity of the dragon "Araki", a piece of information that even he kept secret from his mate, Founder Ameria. How he met this enigmatic entity is another story to itself but suffice to say, he's still not sure why they have revealed themselves to him. |
Whatever entity they may be, they evidently possess a great amount of power since they were able to make an entire clan think they belong here despite having almost no relation or connection to any of the inhabitants living there. While they often appear in dragon form, they seem to be able to become incorporeal; able to disappear without warning but can announce his presence as a gentle breeze. Though unconfirmed, it seems that "Salkhi" is omniscient or has latent omniscience. What it means for the town is uncertain but as long as they are no threat, they will be left alone, for now. |
"Well, well, the town has gotten quite lively hasn't it?"
"However, I'm quite excited to see what happens next, hm hm hm..."
"I suppose I'll stick around a bit longer, they'll need me after all. "

Dearest Ameria, forgive this secrecy but I cannot reveal what I have learned until the appointed time. You must be doubtful of the events that have transpired today. Still, I fear that the interests of another entity have kept me from being entirely truthful.
This entity we know as “Araki”, the truth of its nature still eludes me. That manuscript has provided some insight, yet there's no proof the writer tells the events as they happened.
The entity paid me a visit during my research into the manuscript we found at that crumbling shelter all those years ago. They have always been the cordial sort and they remain as laid back as ever. I do not know his genuine feelings about the manuscript but they have been unnervingly open about the events described; enough so that I doubt my own ability to discern deceit. I cannot prove myself untouched by the being’s influence but if to take Salkhi’s words at face value...
