Kessr
The Moon
2947.png
Kessr is a troubled child of the clan, an emotional nexus plagued by constant personal illusions that seem to have no source or meaning. Always a dragon of few social graces and many social anxieties, her interactions with the clan have now become even more difficult. It is becoming clear to her though: the strange sights and colours she sees, the scents she smells, the whispers she hears, are not real. Not prophecy, not visions, not ghosts. Now that she has grasped the first threads of understanding, they are beginning to become easier to ignore.

Her place in the clan has always been a slightly difficult one, due to the association with her father; a decidedly dangerous dragon whom Kessr resembles much more than she wishes. The clan's reactions to Kessr are mixed. Some reach out to her or respect her as an elder clan member, others find her intimidating, or find her social awkwardness jarring. Kessr herself tries hard; she desires to meld with the clan, to avoid tension, conflict, and unease, but is thwarted at all turns by her heritage: Both in what others expect of it, and by her own rough, solitary personality.

History: Kessr was the first of the clan's eggs to remain at Driftwood Shore after hatching. Being "the hatchling" for most of her early life left an indelible mark, and Kessr still struggles to think of herself as a mature and equal member of the clan, despite her age. During the War of Swords the first of her hallucinations began, driving her from being a fighting member of the defence to being a terrified cave recluse. She took care of Tiukis as an egg during this time, taking comfort in caring for something alive that didn't ask much of her, and then later retreated into the Sea for seasons of solitude until her eventual re-emergence.

Physical: A small, compact Guardian with a thin tail and round wings, Kessr resembles faintly the body structure of her Mirror father and has none of her mother's long-necked elegance. Her primarily oceanic lifestyle and lack of self care leave her unkempt and rough around the edges, with patches of algae buildup and even the odd speck of a barnacle or two on her thick hide. She uses her land limbs to swim, augmented by her tail, and is not particularly fast but has great strength and decent manoeuvrability. Her wings by contrast are fairly weak, and her flight is heavy and awkward. Kessr is intimately familiar with the water, much more so than the land, but has pressure issues and cannot go as deep as some of the other water-living dragons can. Kessr is unnerved by her own intensity in combat and avoids it, but she is a surprisingly fierce- if inexperienced- opponent and uses her brawny forelimbs and sharp claws in rapid, ferocious swipes.

Two things I fear most: The unknown source of these visions, and what I know I'm capable of.
UPjGZkg.png Familiar:
Kessr once had a Storm Seeker; a gift from her exalted Mirror sister before she walked into the Sea. The bird parted ways on friendly terms a long time ago, flying out over the water, and she has not had a familiar since.

Sig:
Kessr's father has nothing to do with her and she is glad. ...At least, this she has convinced herself of. With everybody associating her with him, the less she has to do with him the better she feels, and she is always resentful when he is inevitably brought up in conversation. Still- whether she likes it or not- Kessr has many similarities with the Mirror both physical and mental, forming an inescapable connection.
Kessr's mother on the other hand is quite dissimilar to Kessr, but is a constant interfering plague on her life. Musca feels obliged at all times to press Kessr with advice, suggestions, and general mothering, which Kessr does not appreciate in the least. Sharing her mother's stubbornness, Kessr tends to sullenly defy even decent advice from her, wishing she would cease her constant criticism and leave her alone.
