Sig
The Tower
674.png
Current Events: Two forces are warring beneath Sig's skin. Fever and pain have defeated sanity, for now, and he has retreated to the sedge grasses and the dead trees on the outskirts of Shadow, a mess of teeth and claws and horns to anything that approaches.

it was not his fault, he tells himself, over and over. it was not his fault when the nest exploded, when his mother fell upon them, shielding them with her body and screaming as the snapped, fizzing wires slashed and branded her skin, covering her in dark, black scars.

it was not his fault he was born of lightning, of fire, of the dark of night, it was not his fault he is the things monsters are made of

it was not his fault the fire in his veins would never cease to burn. -n

Sig has always been a dark and ferocious mystery. Parents caution new hatchlings to avoid him and strangers are told to leave him alone. He is unpredictable, furious, and rough. His hunched bearing and jagged horns would be enough to ward away dragons on their own, but the illuminated lines on his skin tend to attract attention, attention he does not appreciate.

When the clan holds a social gathering Sig is usually nowhere to be found. He broods alone or with his mate, distancing himself from the clan at every opportunity. He has no manners, few words, and such an aggressive temper that nobody is disappointed by this. Clanmembers careless with their words have received a sharp talon to the face from the Mirror before, and nobody wishes a repeat incident.

Sig is however one of the strongest, most accomplished warriors in the clan. He has proven himself rapaciously proficient in battle and bears bloody wounds without apparent distress, springing snarling into the fray again and again, heedless of injury. His tolerance for physical pain seems in general very high, perhaps linked with the lines under his skin. His mate Yvelte usually tends to his wounds after these incidents, and she is one of the few dragons Sig tolerates touching him at all. She and Sig used to form a warrior trio with the Tundra Rennic, the traitor. Since Rennic's betrayal Sig has been nigh unapproachable, what little trust he has in other dragons shattered and unstable.

Perhaps out of awareness of the way the clan regards them with unease, or for his own strange reasons, Sig typically binds himself with scraps of dark cloth, covering the ignited lines.

Sig once appeared on Random Dragon on Nov 04, 2015, at roughly 11:10 FR time.

History: At hatchling age Sig came out of nowhere, plunging into the water as though to quench his very skin. Dragging himself from the waves, seeking shelter and food, he attached himself to the nearest clan, snarling for scraps. Although at first barely communicating, his later relationship with Yvelte gradually brought him out of his guarded shell, until the betrayal of his respected battle partner plunged his emotions back into furious chaos.

Physical: The most immediately striking thing about Sig are his glowing orange lines. Unlike normal Circuit patterning they resemble luminescent liquid flowing under his skin, in pulsing rivers. Though Sig is unaware of it, this fluidic circuitry is inherited from his father, and appears to be somehow connected to gembond disease. In addition, the energies of Sig's first Thundercrack Carnevale caused Sig to grow jagged antlers. Unlike regular antlers they do not shed, and have patterns in their structure reminiscent of Lightning symbolism.

Sig is otherwise a large Mirror with thickly flowing musculature. He is a poor flier and like most Mirrors prefers to race along the ground, bounding and slinking. He is not a capable swimmer but has been known to wade into the shallows to cool off, when nobody is around to see him. His fighting style is typical Mirror; pouncing, slashing, and dodging. He tends to throw himself at his enemies without strategy, uncaring how outmatched he might be.

I burn. Fire under my skin. Fire in my mind. They need to fear me.
Fear me as I do. Stay away. Don't come any closer. Don't touch me, I burn.
1145.png Familiar:
Sig does not care much for this creature but somehow it watches over him anyway. The cold blue stag is part of the flock that surrounds Yvelte, and it seems to have fully bonded with Sig without much participation on his part. Sig used to solemnly feed the creature on occasion, in the dawn fog, but has since become so unapproachable in recent times that even the stag knows to keep away.

Kin & Others
Sig's icy Tundra mate is probably the only thing still keeping Sig remotely part of the clan and under control. Her calm, immovable nature and fighting strength by his side are what keep Sig anchored and (relatively) stable. Without her he would undoubtedly fly off to become feral, savage, and caring neither for himself nor his fellow dragon. Sig has understood only one thing: The male dragon he trusted his back to the most has stabbed it. Although he didn't especially like Rennic before, now the respect he had slowly built for him has been burned away by seething, electric rage. Sig understands why Rennic must be kept alive, but if he were presented with the opportunity to do so would undoubtedly try to kill him.

Offspring:
There is not one of Sig's mortal children so far who remains untroubled. Rannveig, Helena, and Hazard all display signs of carrying the same burning lines and inner turmoil as he does, and Sig's clan-living daughter Kessr has deep troubles of her own.
