The founder of the Lyceum of Light, Ilayiah has spent her life dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. After losing her family and home, she became obsessed with finding the secrets of magic, myth, alchemy, and all manner of thaumaturgy and necromancy.

Ilayiah is a strong, firm leader. She is very intelligent, and extremely hard working. She doesn't show her feelings and that leads some to believe that she is cold and distant, when its actually the opposite. Ilayiah has very strong feelings, but runs into issues with conveying those feelings into words.

Born of an egg found by her adopted parents ,while on a visit to the Sunbeam Ruins, she was raised in the Starfall Isles as a princess, and fully expected to come into the role that she had spent her life being groomed for-the leader of her clan.

Fate determined that was not to be, after her home was viciously attacked by an Imperial monstrosity with 3 heads. She barely escaped with her life, and only then by the fearless actions of her guardian and friend, Deimos. The pair spent several miserable weeks, coming close to death many times, limping through the Southern Icefields, where they eventually came across a bewildered shaggy Tundra who would become the love of her life.

Donsair was almost in as bad conditon as they were, and this unlikely trio formed a bond that lasts til tis day. Donsair had no memory of who he was or how he came to be on the frigid floe they found him on. They realized that lack of knowledge had brought them to this lowly place, and vowed to find the answers to all their problems.

They made their way to the Sunbeam Ruins, where they knew the answers must lie. They acquired a rag tag band of followers in their route, and the Amastrauf clan came together. After spending years as an acolyte to a wise old Imperial, Ilayiah knew she had to pass on the knowledge to others, and the Lyceum of Light was born. Many dragons passed through this citadel of learning on their way to serve the Lightweaver, armed with the skills that would serve the deity.

Ilayiah reqlinquished the running of the clan to Talayeh, her best friend. And truthfully, Talayeh was much more suited at heading a clan than Ilayiah ever was. Ilayiah's life is her research. She is much more comfortable surrounded by books, old parchments, and ink than dealing with other dragons. She has brought together an amazing group of teachers, and dragons come from all over Sorneith when they need answers to questions that no one else knows.
Ilayiah is smart, generous, and analytical. She still has a proud arrogance born of her early life, though, and commands respect from all who cross her path. She has a command of magic that few have ever seen, perhaps from the royal blood in her veins. She is somewhat of a seer, also, but that gift has always been like a slippery fish that she just can't get a firm hold on. There are still many secrets that she is chasing, and perhaps always will.

The magical properties of writing mean that written words, once they came into being, were active and sometimes even unstable forces that could be manipulated, both for good and for ill. The Lyceum of Light has been researching ways to use the power of written words to harness the shade that threatens Soreinth.
