This is a Startail accepted dragon
This dragon dwells independent of Star's Rest
Pearl-less
From birth, Banshee has known neither love nor touch. Already understanding the harshness that dragons are capable of, Banshee left her family when she was a child. Still far too young yet alone nonetheless, she had to grow up fast. She had to learn fast. There could be no mistakes; Or it would be the end and this was a fact that was constantly reminded to her. Living in small tunnels, abandoned nests, and out in the cold, Banshee was exposed to much illness, famine, and harshness. Her only means for survival, she learned to steal first. She learned to fight as consequence of these actions.
Time went by and Banshee was no longer a child. Tired of this world and tired of these dragons, Banshee packed what little she could and headed out to the Reclaimer’s Glacier where she could be alone. As frigid as these winds were, as desolate as this land was, she couldn't help but feel welcomed here for the first time. The land, she felt, had accepted her. And she could finally know peace.
But nothing lasts forever. Sometimes change is good. Sometimes change will shatter everything. The first time she saw them, she didn't know what to think. What could two dragons hope to accomplish here? This place would not accept them - and neither would Banshee. She approached. The male, a modestly patterned mirror, spotted her first and nudged the female wildclaw beside him who burst out in excitement before walking over to greet Banshee. Angered, although at what she wasn't sure, Banshee growled in warning to them. But it was too late, the wildclaw had already walked facefirst into her. Initially shocked, Banshee realized then - she was blind. How could a blind dragon hope to live here? Before they could chance an apology, Banshee was gone without a trace.
Keeping her distance, she began spending most of her days watching the pair of dragons just live their lives. They had been alone as she. They had chosen this cursed land just the same. They had their own clearly visible scars. They had been robbed of their own luxuries by life just as her. And yet. Unlike her, they seemed happy.
It would take months but eventually Banshee had begun to enjoy the company of these dragons. One day, they invited her over to their lair to show her something - eggs. Four beautiful, healthy eggs. Moving her paws over each one, the female wildclaw stopped at the last and brought Banshee's paw over to touch it. "This one is special" she whispered, smiling softly. "One day, she will touch a heart that so direly needs it."
Time moved forward. Three of the eggs had hatched. Three happy, healthy mirror babies to complete the family. The last hadn't hatched yet. But she would. "She just needs time" the wildclaw hummed. "I hope she can be your light." And then, out of nowhere, the family had disappeared from her life, leaving only the final egg. And on that night, Banshee had sworn to always protect this egg and to always protect the life within it.

Banshee knew the moment the fleeing dragons from Elegant Opals had stepped foot onto her lands. The winds had whispered it to her. She watched them distantly at first. Their spirits broken as hers had been. They posed no threat. It wouldn't be long until the endless blizzard had claimed them. But as they pressed on, they happened to be moving directly toward the egg that had now become so important to her. Realizing this, she gave chase. She would not lose everything again. And yet, as they fled, they fled right into that tunnel. "Why? Why there?!" she cursed. "There are a million places they could have gone! Why there?!" And thoughts of dread filled her mind. If she went to fell them, what would happen to the egg in the chaos? She would not lose that egg. And so she ended her pursuit. She would retrieve this precious life another night.

What felt to her was an eternity had passed. She had all but given up hope for retrieving this egg. But one day, as she watched the dragons as she had done every day prior, Banshee noticed a wildclaw hatchling playing in the ice. Her scale patterning was unlike anything she had seen before and it looked nothing like the couple or their children but Banshee knew, in an instant, that hatchling came from their egg. Her body became weak, and she collapsed, tears flowing endlessly from her eyes. And it was right there that she made her decision. She would not approach this hatchling. She would not approach these dragons. They would live their lives under her protection yet they would never know it.
