Galactic Travelers | Origin

Galactic Travelers originate from the stars. They are born when stars die, made from the stardust and leftover energy from a collapsed star. They travel the galaxy, learning the secrets of the universe. When they grow up, they can choose a planet to reside on. There they become mortal and lose their magic, but retain incredible seer abilities. If they choose to stay among the stars, they remain immortal and magical, but are alone for the rest of time. This is a difficult decision for Travelers, as the rest of their lives are founded on this decision. Many choose to remain among the stars, as they desire immortality and all the knowledge there is to learn, but many choose to go to a planet and live a fairly normal life.

Sornieth is a popular choice for Travelers, as there are many dragons like them that they can befriend, but any planet will do, really. Some clans host Travelers hoping to use their abilities for their clan, some clans think of Travelers as good luck charms, some just think they look cool, and some are completely oblivious to what the pretty galaxy dragons really are.

Sometimes, Travelers become the subject of local urban legend. For the most part they enjoy the attention, but some Travelers end up living alone because they can’t handle all the prying dragons trying to figure them out.

Galactic Travelers take the form of the dragon breed they like most or the breed that they first see upon their arrival. As soon as they take dragon form, they become mortal and corporeal. Sometimes they have a little trouble getting used to their new form, and they forget that they aren’t immortal, so it’s not uncommon to see a Traveler doing dangerous things.

Travelers that decide to stay exploring never get to see other Travelers. The only time a group of Travelers can be seen together is the day they make their decision, and then after that, they disperse, never to see each other again. It seems like a sad existence, maybe, but Travelers were born to explore, and their thirst for knowledge is greater than a desire for a normal life. On the other hand, the Galactic Travelers that decide to come to earth believe that a happy, exciting life is much better than the lonely life of their brethren. They think that even if a mortal life is short, it’s sweet, and more can be accomplished in a hundred mortal years than an eternity of drifting through the galaxy.

Their descendants are considered Travelers as well, they inherit strong prophetic powers and the instinct to wander. While they may not have to face the difficult decisions that their Traveler ancestors did, they are Galactic Travelers just like their ancestors and parents.
