Hansel grew up in a quaint agricultural town on the Lanternlea Steppes, reading his days away and daydreaming of knighthood. Although his family discouraged such a dangerous and unpredictable profession, he had long been lost to tales of chivalry and adventure. So lost, in fact, that he left his little life on the peaceful promenades the moment he fledged to seek out that aspiration of his.

Hansel's first order of business was learning how to fight, which led him to the peaceful plains of the Mourning Meadows on the cusp of the Hewn City. There he was taken in and apprenticed under the watchful eye of the clan's few remaining warriors. But life there was not peaceful. During his training, the threat of enemy clans pressured Hansel into constantly fighting battles far exceeding his qualifications. But with lives on the line, he could not give in to the pressure.
He fought day and night, honing his skills on the field of battle among his fellow warriors, until the time finally came to take the battle to its source. The Clan of Mourning Meadows, together with the help of allied beastclans, neighboring dragon lairs, and an extremely unhinged dragon who had not been accounted for, defeated the aggressor clan, the Southern Prairie Rain Sept.

Hansel offered the lone warrior who joined them refuge in the Clan of Mourning Meadows, much to the chagrin of his superiors. Regardless, the offer was later supported by clan officials, and the lone dragon, Glace, accepted. The following months were peaceful for the two, as they grew closer and eventually became partners.

The peace would not last, as two years later the Northern Prairie Rain Sept had caught wind of their sister clan's defeat and rallied for vengeance. The Clan of Mourning Meadows was overpowered during a long, unrelenting siege. Through Hansel's quick thinking he and his mate were able to find opportunity to escape, but not before their hatchlings were taken by starvation.

Hansel led his mate west into the Tangled Woods until they were encountered and captured by a Covenant patrol. Hansel marked most of the communications between their roaming party and the Covenant, and agreed to join on the terms that the remains of the Prairie Rain Septs were destroyed in entirety.

In the Covenant of Ichor, Hansel is a loyal and resolute member of the Valorous Armada. However, due to the trauma of his past experiences in battle, he is strictly not to be positioned or assigned outside of lair premises. Instead, Hansel has been tasked with training the lair's hatchlings and preparing them for life outside of the Covenant. His pleasant nature, patience, and level-headed judgement coupled with his experience in less-than-ideal circumstances make his teachings an invaluable resource to the clan.

Hansel himself is an excitable, outgoing wildclaw who is prone to losing himself to periods of melancholy and paranoia. He can most often be found playing with the clan's hatchlings, doting over the newest recruits, or lounging with his mate. He holds a significant place in the social hierarchy of the Ichor Covenant not only as a well-liked and well-respected companion, but also as the only dragon who can approach and communicate with Glace without being attacked.
