Although it was the great Glacial Leviathan, Huron, who initially formed the Umbral Guard, Herja has held the position of captain for quite some time. A member of the clan since its early days, Herja rose up through the ranks of the Guard under Huron's tutelage, until he decided to promote her to Captain of the Guard.

Herja is a great warrior who also holds mastery over Shadow magic, though she felt her true place was keeping her beloved home safe, instead of traveling the land, charging into battle.

She is notoriously stern and blunt in her speech, and most on the guard would say that no "soft side" to her exists. There is one, however, Herja has deemed worthy of seeing a softer side to her: the overseer, Arke. The pair has been together perhaps almost as long as they've both been in the clan, and their relationship has stood the tribulations of Arke giving up her pearl - thereby losing all her memories, as well as unintentionally sharing her curse with the Captain.

Friends & Family

Arke is Herja's wife, a pearlcatcher without a pearl.

The Deathcaller Peyton and Herja are, surprisingly, quite good friends.

Killian is one of Peyton's children, half of a set of twins whose eggs were spirited away by a colony of Veilspun.
