ABOUT

Ex thief and mugger. Probably member of a gang for a long time. Born a Wind Snapper unable to fly, she was an angry child and teen surrounded by dragons who had mastered wind magic enabling them to fly. Threw violent tantrums, was sent away to boot camp in the Abiding Boneyard. Ended up joining a gang and defecting early to the Wandering Contagion, where she used her large size, heavy weight, and jaw strength to bully other dragons into surrendering their money and valuables. She also learned how to cook her own meals, purify her own putrid water into something drinkable, and how to treat the symptoms of diseases she caught in the Plaguelands. (Has a strong immune system as a result)

While passing through a canyon that was Harpy Beastclan territory, she and the gang ended up wounded after frequent scuffles. She still wished she could fly, so she could be a better match for the harpies for aerial fights.

Killed a scrollmaker on accident, took a random form-change scroll (Pearlcatcher) and transformed to try to hide from her crimes. Couldn't fly with her new wings and ended up captured and imprisoned. Her gangmates abandoned her to save their own hides.

Caedies gave her testimony but pleaded not guilty. Out of nowhere, Naia came forward as a witness and said that she saw what happened and Caedies was acting in self-defense. Caedies was found not guilty. When she asked Naia why, Naia answered that she admired Caedies's grit to survive and face the future even when the rest of her gang left her behind.

Caedies, not wanting to admit she was lost without her old gang, decided to start traveling with Naia, believing that she owes Naia because of her unnecessary (and actually false) witness testimony that acquitted her.

It's ironic. As a Wind-born Snapper, landbound my whole life, all I wanted to do was take to the skies. I never imagined this is how my wish would come true.
