Biography
Lapidary was initially named due to her colors appearing so similar to many precious stones, and a small polished piece of jade was given to her when she was still young.
For hours and days she played with that stone, holding it to the light and speaking to it as though it were a cherished playmate. On one unfortunate day, it fell from her young claws and cracked into smaller pieces, but Lapidary was too in awe to cry. She noticed the rough insides looked different from the polished outside and began scraping bits away to see more, and was pleased to find that her claws were sharp and deft enough to slowly carve at the stone. After hours of curious work, she was startled to find that the entire original stone had been worked to crumbles and resembled green pebbles rather than any jade stone.
For this, she cried. The gift of stone from her father had been destroyed at her hands, her mineral friend nothing but a pile of dust before her. She cried for hours before a clanmate scooped the tiny stone pebbles into a jar and offered it to her as a gift.
Until she grew to be a young adult, Lapidary never thought of carving at another stone. It was only on a scavenging outing when she found a curious piece of agate that she noted how the bands of the stone followed the outside curve of the stone, and with some careful carving, she had turned the stone into a palm-sized heart. With excitement and pride she raced home to show her parents and friends, and several more stones we're thrust her way for eager experimentation.
The days flew by into weeks, and then months, as she honest her craft. A malachite rose. An onyx fu lion. Small protection animals out of rose quartz, howlite, chrysoprase, lepidolite and agates of every color imaginable. She even carved an entire sandstone wall with an intricate relief of a Rose garden backed by tall mountains and stately pines. Her favorite projects were the smaller jewelry pieces that required some metal tools to bore out holes; she loved to see other dragons wearing her art.
Inside a trunk made of sturdy wood from a branch of the Behemoth itself, the wood inlaid with pink agate reliefs of cherry blossoms; were Lapidary's treasures. And wrapped inside a preserved Silverdown leaf was her jar of jade, her old friend, who inspired her from the start.
