Ms Fablewood reclined in her chair, steam from her freshly poured cup of tea twirling lazily through her feather crested head, condensing on her glasses and fogging them just slightly. She looked up from her reading, Huckleberry Claww, and glanced out the window for some change in scenery. Outside, there were a group of hatchlings all chasing after each other, playing some sort of game. The sound of their uproarious laughter as they tumbled around and tore holes in the grass with their sprints made Ms Fablewood smile.
She turned her arcane gaze up slightly, looking at the trees, eternally in autumnal preparation, always ready for the winter that shall never come. Poetic, really, if a bit sad, always ready for the strike that won’t come, too busy preparing for the false apocalypse to enjoy the world around. Though it’s incredibly beautiful in such tragedy, the sun shines much differently through reds and oranges than it does through greens, making it look as if the trees themselves were ablaze when the breeze decided to traipse through their little grove. And with the backlight of the sky, a clear blue today, it was plain magical to behold, she promised to never take this view for granted. The scenery of home all around her, it’s peaceful. One would have a hard time guessing this was a clan of plague, would they not?
