________"Would you like to make a trade. . .?"
╭━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╮
"I feel divinity in my bones like aching, like fire." ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯
The Spiral reached over and took the other dragon's hand, shaking it forcefully. “The deal is done,” he rasped. The younger dragon shrunk away from the dark specter, quickly snatching his hand back. The creature's touch had been cold, far too cold for warm, living blood to be pumping through its veins.
The dragon spoke weakly, “Are you the devil?” To which the Spiral tilted his head to the side, exposing a little more of the blackened, flaking flesh underneath his cloak. He emitted a gurgling, choking sound that could almost pass for a chuckle. “No...I’m just one hell of a businessman.”

Deimos once lived in a large, bustling town full of vendors and merchants. He did very well for himself, drawing customers in with a disarming smile and endless flattery. He sold silk and fabrics, many of which he had tailored for his own needs, but business was booming and he could spare a few good rolls. It was no secret that many of Deimos customers were also admires. The sweet-talking merchant was highly revered for his good looks. He would spend hours in front of mirrors grooming himself, or reading the letters sent by his many lovers. However, such vanity would soon be his downfall. He bragged high and low that his beauty was more divine than any God and was punished spectacularly for his vanity. It could never be proven for certain if the fire had been caused by a spurred lover or a curse sent by the Gods themselves, but some dragon had lit a fire to Deimos' beloved tavern while he slept inside. The building went up like a tinderbox, becoming an inferno so hot that Deimos' flesh charred and the silks he so loved to wear melted to his body. Miraculously, Deimos survived the ordeal, though he wished he were dead. He was ruined. Deimos' wares had been rendered to ashes and no amount of surgery could bring back his former beauty. Former friends and admires turned on him. In shame, Deimos fled deep into the mountains where he would later find refuge with the Petrified Winds. He offered them his skills as a merchant, but they had no use for silks. Instead, they would put his talents to a different use. Now, the merchant-turned-spy refuses to show his ruined face to anyone, wrapping himself tightly in the fine silks and fabric he once sold. Without his beauty he now seeks power through information, collecting even the most mundane gossip for blackmail. Those who wrong him often find themselves trapped in a web of nasty rumors that follow them around for years, running their reputation and livelihood into the ground.

Familiar Since his brush with death, Deimos has become a secretive, suspicious creature, refusing the company or companionship of any other dragons. All are held at a metaphorical (and physical) arms lengths, a necessity when one's career harbors many enemies. Instead, Deimos surrounds himself with many beautiful and expensive things. This ranges from gold-spun scarves and onyx statues, to exotic familiars. After all, a loyal beast can be very useful as a guardian or watchman...and the Slight Eyewing serves as both. Deimos purchased the celestial bird when it was still an egg and raised it with attentive care. The creature has since imprinted upon the dragon and wherever Deimos is, the bird is sure to follow, ready to alert him to approaching danger.
