Caoineag
(Koonyak)

The Scottish Gaelic weeping faery who wails beside a waterfall in the night to warn clans of impending catastrophe and disaster. She is one of a group of spirits in Scottish folklore known as fuaths. She is also a female family spirit (each clan has their own) who can be hard in nighttime lamentations warning of impending catastrophe, but she is never seen.
