Biography
This dragon is a member of the Lightning flight subspecies Moonrise Dragon and meets the very specific coloration and genetic criteria set forth by that flight.
What happens when you mix a blue moon, overcharged spires/rods, and a conveniently placed lightning nest? Moonrise dragons. That’s what you get. These incredible, albit a bit cranky, species was created under the watchful, mischievous eye of a blue moon. It was a cool night in the Lightning Farms, but something was happening underground where the wires and machines were hidden. Too much electricity was being produced and they couldn’t keep up with production. All extra electricity had been discharged safely into the air whenever this happened before, but something was different this night. It was as if the blue moon itself was willing something to go a little bit wrong.
At the stroke of midnight, instead of the the electricity being safely discharged upward, it shot out from the rods and spires in all sorts of directions. And in one direction in particular happened to be a lightning nest. Lightning nests absorb discharge on a regular basis. How else does one explain their lightning eyes? But the amount of electricity this time was something the eggs had never experience before. Rocks and dust were thrown everywhere when the nest was hit, creating a small dust cloud. Only, it wasn’t dust.
Smoke was seeping out of the eggs, bright blue smoke, almost as if the electricity had somehow changed its form. A moment later, the eggs cracked and out popped the first ever moonrise dragons. But because they were born under the light of a blue moon, their biological makeup had been drastically changed: these dragons were now nocturnal and bore moon spots upon their wings along with smokey, iridescent bodies to forever remind others of the strange night that bore them.
So then the next question to ask would be: Why were the moonrise dragons chosen as the night mangers of the Spire? Was it because there was what all called a perfect storm raging that caused every dragon, intern and worker alike to go into triple overdrive and their biological make up of rising with the moon made them perfect? Nah. They just happened to be in the right place at the wrong time. The Boss pointed at them and yelled "GET BACK TO WORK! MAKE SURE MY EMPLOYEES ARE DOING THEIR JOB!"
Now, these dragons see themselves as stunning, graceful beings that have been blessed by both the moon and Stormcatcher himself, but in reality they’re overworked just like every other intern and worker and the Stormcatcher yells at them all the same.
