Sparkles is Galestrike's beloved daughter, following in her tracks to become a mage just like her. Where others fail to keep up with Galestrike's teachings, Sparkles always prevails due to her determination, in spite of her clumsiness. She disregards her mother's insinstance that she doesn't need to be a mage just because of her - Sparkles is confident in her decision.

In Sparkles' endless intrigue, she also indulges in many tomes and other books of spells, even those she fears she might be forbidden from reading. This, combined with Galestrike's teaching, has resulted in Sparkles learning a little bit of magic unique to her, as well as manifesting a murderous spirit, which she desperately tries to hide as anything but that in fear of getting scolded.

Mysteriously to Sparkles, Kage, the stolid and brawny newly recruited troop, offers reassurance and help in sealing the spirit away for good without the others finding out about it in spite of knowing little to no magic herself.
