A member of the Necromancer subspecies. Already an accomplished Necromancer by the young age he was accepted into Home, Freista was brought here for one dragon: failed Necromancer Thrjota. At first, the two dragons did not at all get along - Freista was an embodiment of everything Thrjota had failed to achieve, and they both knew this very well. Though Thrjota will continue to require daily treatment for the rest of his life, both his quality of life and his lifespan have greatly improved - and the risk of infection to the rest of Home is greatly diminished thanks to Freista's coming here. Fortunately, the two dragons have also started to get along rather well once they realized their similarities. Much like Thrjota, Freista was born into a family where he was expected to undertake the Necromatic trials as soon as he was able. He also displayed incredible magical skill even as a hatchling. The only difference in their stories is that one failed and one succeeded.

Freista is a quiet and intellectual dragon, and when he is not busy studying medicine or spending time with Home's other healers or sick he can often be found with his best friend, Bragtha. The two are similar dragons in many ways, and it was Bragtha who helped Freista begin to find his humanity. Becoming an accomplished Necromancer before one can fly properly has a tendency to go to one's head, after all. Before Home, Freista found it easier to simply accept his duty to stand up straight and act like he was always above everyone else, but now he finds such a task almost asinine. He specializes in cancer, typically the favoured profession for Light Necromancers, and his charity work is already becoming quite well-known in the area. He is known for breaking rules and regulations - once even sneaking himself into a medical facility with Bragtha's help - to get new information or help his patients. Of course, it would be easier to simply act like he is above tending to the common sick in the region and delivering cryptic messages, but Freista doesn't care as much anymore about what is easy.

Behind the Name...
In Old Norse, the verb
Friesta was used
to designate
'challenge,' a reference to
Friesta's success
in the Necromatic
Trials, as well
as a nod to
his philosophy on
how one should lead
a fulfilling life.

Sweet child in time, you'll see the line
Line that's drawn between the good and the bad
See the blind man shooting at the world
Bullets flying, taking toll
If you've been bad - Oh Lord, I bet you have
And you've not been hit by flying lead
You'd better close your eyes, bow your head
Wait for the ricochet
